Years ago, I was asked to help sing with a Temple choir for High Holy Days. I love to sing so of course, I said yes. You cannot imagine how unprepared and completely overwhelmed I was by the sheer beauty, poetry and passion of the prayers in this book. Before I left Temple on the last day I sang there, I bought a handful of their copies of Gates of Repentance and gave them all away. I would think that anyone who values the presence of sacred texts in their libraries would surely consider this one their most important books.

Beautiful book! The English translations are so easy to understand. Unlike the Conservative prayer books that I grew up with in which the English translations seemed to be written in 17th century English, the translations in this Reform prayer book are written in modern English, making it much easier to enjoy the service. At the end of the book, there is also a beautiful alternate version of Avinu Malkeinu (sp.?). I requested expedited delivery, and I received the book BEFORE the expected delivery date! I am very pleased with the book and the vendor!

My book showed up in pristine condition in just two days, even though I paid for standard shipping. Great value for money.

When this prayer book first came out, it was used in my congregation for the High Holy Days. Gender Neutrality aside, there was a passage in the Yom Kippur service that read "Without Jews, there is no Jewish G-d..." and it went on as a harrangue to G-d saying that he has to forgive us because he is nothing without us. I found it so repugnant, so offensive, such a heresy that I not only left that congregation, but the reform movement itself. This book is utter drek and an averah.
