Excellent Addition to a Jewish Worship Collection,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Gates of Song: Shaarei Shira (Paperback)
The subtitle "Music for Shabbat" is apt. This collection from 1987 has a good mix of liturgical settings, some "folk" in nature, some by composers such as Sulzer, Lewandowski, Goldfarb, Carlebach... The music is in lead sheet format. (There is a larger keyboard format that I haven't seen.) In addition to the transliterated Hebrew texts underneath the music, separate texts in Hebrew are provided. It would be great if English translations had been provided, but that would have meant fewer selections, and this was presumably put together for rabbis and cantors conversant in Hebrew. There are a few English selections included, by the way.
