Right amount of power for the price.,
This review is from: Gateway 700GR Desktop PC (3.40 GHz Pentium 4 (Hyper-Threading), 1 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, DVD+/-RW Drive, CD-ROM Drive) (Personal Computers)
I differ in thought with the previous post. I have seen Media Centers that have less or equal power, that are from HP (...). The fact that this is not labeled as a media center, just shows that the graphics card and OS may not be equipped to record video, but that does not say that it doesn't have power. For the price it has a good amount of power, and you will more then likely be able to put up to 8 GB of memory in it. But the fact that it only has 250GB in hard drive 3.4GHz of possessor with Hyper-Threading (good for multiple applications, without interference), and 1 GB of memory, allow it to have flexible upgrading, and good power up front, and allows for a good price.
It's not the most powerful pc out there, but it is not a $3,000 machine eather.

This system is really not as good as it seems. I don't know why they consider this a "media" center computer. It only has a 3.40 GHz Processor with Hyper Threading Technology. Now a lot of Alienware systems are caring 3.6 and maybe even 4.0? 1GB Ram is pretty big but the Apple G5 can hold up to about 8. 250 GB is horrible because a media center machine needs atleast 500 GB. The DVD+/-RW Drive is good only because that's the only thing that's out now. CD-ROM Drive sucks because we don't need any CD-ROM's anymore. I think that this system is a pretty good normal system but for people who think that it is a media center system don't be fooled. Go to Sony or HP.
