2.0 out of 5 stars I won't be purchasing a Gateway product again, August 5, 2005

This review is from: Gateway 802.11g Cable/DSL router with 4 port switch (Personal Computers)
For basic home networking, this router is fine as long as you don't need any support. I could never get VPN to work, and Gateway tech support admitted it was most likely a hardware problem, but refused to even tell me where to find firmware updates since the problem was not discovered until it was barely out of warranty (unless I paid $3/minute or $300/year for the privilege, although they assured me that they still didn't expect to be able to solve the problem even if I paid the steep price). Since this was one of many such experiences over the past few years, I replaced the router with another brand (a less expensive but more configurable model), and have had no problems at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gateway router, February 29, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Gateway 802.11g Cable/DSL router with 4 port switch (Personal Computers)
The Gateway router has great performance, with WPA security and 4 port switching this product competes head to head against linksys and other 802.11g routers.

Plus Gateway technical support is far superior over any other support organization

5.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for., March 12, 2004

I've heard horror stories about getting a wireless network configured in your house. Either I'm very lucky or this product is better than a lot of the cheap stuff out there.
Set-up was straight forward, quick and easy. I have never had to touch it since the initial setup. I understand that may have to do with the Broadcom chip set which is more dependable, but also more expensive than some others. (My cable modem, on the other hand, needs rebooting every couple days. But that's another story.)
