This monitor is beautiful. I was swaying between a few monitors before I went to circuit city to see it in person. I was sold. the touch buttons on the side are easy to use, and the monitor is beautiful. Soon to get a vid card that has hd, but so far, it is still great, even with vga alone. And you can use it as a monitor for tv with the component and hdmi hookups. Versatile.

The screen surface reflects your surroundings, not noticeable full screen but when something is minimized it is distracting.
My Gateway 19 incher does not do this so why did they change?
Screen is bright WHITE and text is easy to read.
Odd error when installing the EZTune included software. Still waiting to hear from the Portrait support people.
If you want to swivel the screen for portrait mode you will have to buy the special mounting.
We expect to keep this, cons very minor.

Received still in the original wrap. minus original box, It even had the 40 dollar sound bar with it. I bought this to replace a monitor that was at Gateway for repair, the one I received back from Gateway wasn't as good ( no hdmi sound out) as this one, these are some of the best monitors you can buy for the money, Hdmi in, composite in, vga in and dvi in. VERY versatile! I have three and am very pleased with them.

If you are not ok with serious color banding of all colors.....Then don't buy this monitor. Research hd2200 reviews and issues of color banding before you buy this monitor. The colors are great... I personally can't stand having a 2600$ gaming computer and have horrible graphics. Returned it to gateway and received a new monitor with the same issue, and as an added bonus the touchpanel on the new monitor didn't function. First monitor the touch panel was fine, not on the refurbished one. Gateway support is horrible. 10 day turnaround time turned into 31 days. I was told that even though the refurbished monitor was defective upon delivery that I would have to pay shipping again to have it repaired. To sum it up...don't buy this monitor

Buying this Gateway HD2200 22" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor, has been so far (to this point... less than a month ago) one of the best, purchases I've made this year. I was using an old, 17 inch flat panel lcd monitor, that was still very functionally sound, but whenever I was on the internet, I always had to scroll back & forth constantly to see all of the info available on the net's widescreen format. Or even worse my tiny, old monitor would just crop out a lot of webpage details. I had been wanting a new monitor for over a year, but just couldn't justify spending 2 to 3 hundred dollars on a newer, bigger, monitor, when the old one I had worked just fine. Then I came across this model, refurbished, listed at less than $150... I could not refuse, and I have been enjoying the hell out of it ever since! Not only does it display web pages (and documents) beautifully, but it's brought my old pc games to a whole new level of enjoyment! As if that alone were not enough, the surround sound speaker bar accessory (which I was not expecting to get with a refurbished product!) has been another wonderful addition! That bar put out much better sound than the speaker system that was included with my computer! The screen itself has a glassy finish, which makes for easy cleaning, and the picture quality is very "crisp", and ultra-sharp. (I don't even have a compatible hi-def input on my computer, to plug into. Am using the basic VGA cable & ports, and still this beautiful picture quality!)

Thus far, I really only have a few minor complaints about this monitor:
1. It's a bit too dark. Even with the display controls for brightness, contrast, and gamma, all cranked most (if not all) the way full, it's sometimes still too dark when watching videos/movies, or especially when gaming.

2. The glassy screen finish tends to reflect too much background light (daylight from windows, or any indoor light). This also makes it hard to watch a movie, or play a game (with a dark backdrop) in daylight.

- Also, the touchscreen controls don't do much to impress me personally. I supposed I'm old fashioned, but I prefer having an actual button (or knob) to use on the outside of a monitor. (With this particular "speaker bar" included style monitor, I suppose that's not an option though.)

All in all, if you want a nice looking, full featured, big, sharp imaging, nice full sound, widescreen monitor, then this is one you should definitely consider. And if you can get it to your house for less than $200, my advice would be to buy it immediately! Don't wait for a better deal!

Never had an LCD before. Went from a 17" to what I think of as wide-screen. Love it. Highly recommended for movie & all other video viewing. DGB

Gateway has been the major supplier of computer components for my company since the early 90's. Gateway always delivers; Under all the talk and advertising is an extremely durable product. The HD2200 Widescreen HD LCD Monitor is one of those items.

The quality of the screen is immediately apparent, and the number of options available is staggering. Everything is supported, from HDMI and DVI to component and VGA cabling. The 1680 x 1050 resolution is excellent for games and movies. The menu buttons are stylish and easy to use without being obtrusive.

If you've been meaning to upgrade and want a perfect middle-of-the-road monitor, Gateway is easily the choice to go with. Excellent product, extremely reasonable price.


As an added note, the user that complained about the menu not saving his default options has a defective product. I am never asked for the language unless I unplug the monitor.

Just bought the NEW model of this 22" size.My reveiw reinforces the other peoples reviews.Love the glossy screen,though there is some light reflections.The style and finishes match my printer and keyboard perfectly.Right now I use mine for computer use only,but with the selection of inputs on the rear I have a tv backup for my bedroom.I was looking for the 24" Samsung model but after seeeing this one on display I liked the screen and the 22" size instead.The Samsong had icon issues but this brand has good,lit buttons.So far, so good on this model.Very pleased so far.

Monitor has a good viewing size and beautiful picture. The monitor features a 1680X1050 display with PIP if you have a second video imput. Adjusting setting on monitor is very easy with an on screen menu display. Overall I have not had any issues with the monitor and I am very happy with my monitor.

Ok monitor, except everytime you turn it on, a pop-up window appears telling you to select your language default option. A major nuisance - maybe something is wrong with mine - will return it.
A "default" by definition is something you set for keeps until purposely reset.
