I've always been a fan of Gateway products. I have owned many of their laptops and have been very satisfied. This netbook does not dissapoint. Gateway makes a great quality Netbook, however, any typical user that wants to do more than just lightly browse the Net(use Windows Media Player, Antivirus, have multiple programs open) is gonna want to upgrade the RAM from 1GB to 2GB(the MAX for this Netbook is 2GB RAM according to Gateway's website). The first step was finding a compatible RAM which I purchsed on Amazon, of coarse, since I am a Prime member. If your interested in which one it was just put CT25664BF1339 in the search engine and it will generate the product for the Crucial Brand 2GB RAM 204 pin that is compatible with this Netbook. My next step was to find a YouTube instruction video so I would know how to upgrade it since there are not screws in the back that open it up. I didn't find one for this model but I did find a video on how to upgrade the model that released right before this model(the LT4004u). I broke out my smartphone and watched the video and used a small phillips and flathead screw driver and after I took everything apart, I installed the new RAM, put it back together, and started up the computer. I had perfect success! I was a little afraid I might tear up my netbook during the upgrade process since you do have to remove the keyboard and some screws, but was careful and did just fine after learning I need to use a slight amount of elbow grease. I did inccur a small scratch where I had to get under the keyboard but its barely noticeable and well worth it! When I started it up I was able to browse the web, run my antivirus, use Windows Media Player with ease, and stil had about 40% of my RAM available.Read more ›

Paid $199 for this net-book and well worth it. I need a portable lightweight PC to carry with me when I travel or hang out at the coffee shop. That said, it's a net-book, not a laptop and any buyer should be aware of this. Netbooks don't come with DVD-Rom drives. It also has only 1Gig RAM and Windows 7 Starter. These are non-issues for anybody who is even moderately techno-savvy. Upgrading this net-book from 1 to 2GB was an easy task and, as others on here have said, crucial for any user who may need to use several applications at once. Next I upgraded Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Pro, added a portable USB-connectable DVD-Rom drive and I have a fully functional portable PC for less than $250. (excluding Windows 7 Pro which I already owned)

Netbook - $199
DVD Drive - $25
2GB RAM - $11

Due to either Intel's shortsightedness and/or incompetence, the graphics capabilities of this machine are garbage. A previous model of this that I own (the LT2805u, with graphics hardware by intel, labeled Intel GMA 3150) is capable of playing 2D games with no problems along with some really low-end 3D games. This one? Is much worse. Sure, netbooks aren't GAMING machines, but even still that is no excuse for releasing a product that is crippled.

The graphics chip is 3rd party. complaining to said 3rd party will result in being told to complain to intel, which will result in insignificant driver "updates" along with being told to complain to the 3rd party (The chip, labeled "Intel GMA 3600" is a PowerVR by Imagination Technologies).

The netbook comes with Windows 7 Starter, 32-bit. You can install any other 32-bit version of windows. They're all equally bloated and inefficient. The only thing Starter has going for it are the exclusion of Windows features the average user will never use, much less need. Oh and you can't change the wallpaper on Starter without a 3rd party program. Good ol' Micro$oft.

It is almost required you get a 2 GB stick of RAM, OR getting a Solid State Drive. However, the latter is iffy. I put an SSD in my netbook at the same time I installed a 4 GB chip of RAM. I don't know which component is the problem but I'm leaning towards the SSD. I was experiencing a troubling but annoying issue where Windows Explorer would freeze for up to 10-15 minutes. Just explorer. The mouse still moves but nothing responds. This problem seems to have disappeared. Either one of those "something the computer gets better at the more you use it" situations or maybe it was directly solved by updating the firmware of my SSD.

I enjoy this little netbook, and the price was right! I got it for $199.00
My biggest complaint is that the built-in mouse pad is situated right to the edge of the computer - I am always accidentally touching the mouse pad as a result - sending the pointer on the screen flying - or causing the cursor to become repositioned elsewhere in the middle of my typing, thereby making a mess of what I have typed.
Rather underpowered which is to be expected for a netbook - my solution which worked very well was to uninstall programs that come with it that I would never use and to uninstall Norton Antivirus and install Microsoft Security Essentials - which is free. Also the OS is Windows 7 Starter Edition - which supposedly limits you to running three applications at once, I have had my Netbook for about six weeks now and I have not yet run into this limitation however.
