This laptop offers the best bang for your buck. I am extremely rough on my laptops, and tend to replace them yearly: why I no longer purchase expensive units. The system has a windows base score of 4.6. Higher than other similarly priced, or even more expensive machines. The low score is due to the graphics component. This computer is NOT designed for gaming. The processor is similar to an Intel I-3, in fact it is slightly faster in clockspeed. However, the B950 does not have hyperthreading like the newer generation I-3-5-7 processors do. My biggest complaint will be the trackpad (mouse) and keyboard. The trackpad has an abrasiveness that makes it difficult to make quick accurate movements. The keyboard feels cheap, and doesn't spring back the way I would like. The trackpad is easily remedied with an external mouse. While you can use an external keyboard as well, it negates the portability function of a laptop.

This gateway is probably the best laptop you can get for under $400. This is a full featured 15.6 inch laptop with an Intel Pentium B950 processor which isn't too bad for daily tasks. I already have a gaming laptop/desktop replacement but its a huge 17.3" beast so I needed something portable and cheap to carry around. This laptop is just that! 4 GB DDR3 RAM is enough for everyday tasks and the Hard drive isn't too shabby either. The screen isn't the best but it's ok for the price tag. I recommend this laptop to anyone who is looking for a budget laptop for everyday tasks such as web browsing, shopping, emailing, video chatting etc. Sure, you can't game on this computer with it's crappy Intel integrated graphics, but for $350 what do you expect?

This laptop offered what I was looking for in a full sized one. I was looking for a laptop that was rsponsive and had a comfortable weight as I sometimes I need to carry a full-sized laptops to present multimedia presentations when my smaller notebook won't suffice. The system,hard-drive space, and internal memory are all pretty standard. The graphics component is solid for Powerpoint and general ops though not game ready. The trackpad (mouse) and keyboard is sensitive enough even if not so much on more complex programs like games.I disagree with the reviewer who stated the keyboard felt cheap.I think it is smooth enough as to not make unintentional errors. I agree that for people who expect to run multiple tabs to runs 4 or more programs they need to toggle through you might want to get an external mouse. While it's no Sony Vaio or MacBook it's a great value for students, casual freelancers, writers and people who are just looking for a laptop that does what it says.Don't pay under $500 and expect $1700.00 worth of performance after all- A laptop is only as good as what you need to use it for so spend accordingly!

I don't think I've ever seen such a bargain when it comes to buying a laptop. The laptop is pretty and practical. Great for everyday use! Also, the mouse pad has a little area reserved just for scrolling. Pretty neat! I can't say much more because I just got it today and I haven't done much, but I will update after I have some time with it. I'm very happy with the product so far and would definitely recommend it to someone.

It was pure luck that I found this laptop in the Amazon website. Have been is use for a few months and I am very happy of the performance. Sure, it is a basic laptop computer but it works very well for my needs. I am reccomending this to the readers who need a non-fancy computer.

Bought this laptop 2months back and I have found that it's really worth the money. Great features for the money spent. Only thing I felt that can be improved is the keyboard which is a bit flimsy and delicate.

I'll be the first to admit a little bit of apprehension at checking out a Gateway product. After all, how long has it been since they've been competitive in the marketplace? Personally, I can remember when those weird boxes with the cow markings were ubiquitious in homes and schools across the nation. Then, for some reason, Gateway just disappeared, Dell and HP took over, and cow-computers never made it back.

But lo' and behold, after a well respected brand of computer tanked a few months ago, I was in a pretty tough spot. I didn't have a load of money, and a lot of my life was online. I needed a new machine within an affordable range, but I also didn't want it to be a cheap dud. It took a lot of thinking it over, but I settled on this Gateway model. It's not flashy, and it won't suit you well if you're an online gamer for lack of a dedicated memory card, but with the processing power and RAM to get things done, it suits the average user who doesn't consistently demand a lot out of his CPU and is happy with the average machine that will suit him well if you treat it right.

It's not designed to catch the eye, with a plain, simple design and the keyboard with it's very flat and square keys take some time to get used to, but it all becomes second nature after that "getting to know you" phase we all go through with a new machine. There are several shortcuts in the keyboard connected to social functions as well as volume controls that make up the difference, as well as a touchpad with a bit of grit in it so you feel the surface with your finger. Some people like it a little better if it's as smooth as glass, others like to feel something under their fingers. It's all preferance on this part.

Display is about as good as it'll get without making a heavy investment.
