5.0 out of 5 stars Product Works Well/ However Never Called Customer Support
The price is great, and the various input options are helpful for the modern computer hacker. I use this product with a gefen 4-DVI-D KVM. Single link DVI will not support the monitor at it's ideal resolution. I recommend DVI-sniffers to maintain proper configuration when switching between different machines.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Monitor, Horrible Customer Service, December 18, 2008
This review is from: Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor (Electronics)
Pros: Great Monitor when working, Multiple Inputs, PiP, Works Great with Vista x64 and even Windows 7 x64

Cons: After less than a year of use Green tint over entire screen, flickering images, complete screen failure, horrible customer support.

Have to agree with the other reviews. I've had my monitor for almost a year now and it has completely died on me (keeps telling me no available input despite having multiple inputs plugged-in, and even that image flickers with a green tint over the entire screen), yet gateway's tech support tells me that it must have been something I did to it and therefore cannot be covered under warranty and asked me for a credit card number before they would go any further. It was the same story both times I called back, I would still like to know how I did something to a device that hasn't been moved since it was plugged in after purchase. I will never recommend another Gateway product to anyone, regardless of how innovate their products are, simply because they do not back-up their products.

1.0 out of 5 stars hate gateway, January 1, 2009
This review is from: Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor (Electronics)
After loving my monitor for a year and two weeks my monitor started to act like a strobe light. Checking different forums suggested that i get another power supply for my monitor. Called Gateway to purchase another power supply for the monitor and they said they couldnt help me because my warranty was up, they sujested to call their tech support for $60 to help resolve my problem. So i hung up and called again to be given numbers to variors vendors that sell refurbished powersupplys, and none of them carry them, asked gateway again for usefull numbers only to be given fake numbers and even to retailer tigerdirect (which doesnt carry the item i need). So my monitor sits useless for almost a month now. Spent nearly 2k after taxes when it first came out, Dismal support from gateway. No one carries the power supply for this unit and no one wants to help. Never buying from gateway again. Going back to my old dell 17" monitor thats been used in a a heavy restaurant enviroment for about 5yrs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of Junk - Beware!!, January 22, 2008
By
Sudhir Krishnan (san francisco bay area) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor (Electronics)
Updated Review:

This is a Piece of Junk. These monitors have a knack of constantly failing in just over a year of purchase. Gateway does not support these monitors one bit.
Worst decision in electronics purchase made by me ... ever. Don't ever buy any Gateway product - you'll regret it.

My original review:
Got this beauty home last month. 2560x1600 resolution is just amazing - but its not a novel thing - apple and dell both have displays that support the same resolution.

This is however the first monitor that all kinds of analog and digital inputs you can think of - composite, svideo, component, vga, dvi, hdmi that can scale all the video inputs to the native resolution!
Everyhing gets converted to 1600p!

Monitor stand is very well built - no gripes about not being able to adjust the height. Speaker bar comes witht he unit - but you may want to get something nicer. I have connected the output of the speaker bar to a PC 2.1 audio system. Heat sensitive control panel is very nice to use -but could be more reliable

Personally I'm waiting for prices to go down just a bit so I can get another one! The Dell 3008WFP has a higher color gamut and more video inputs but mind you its a glossy screen and there are no audio inputs, no speaker bar, no remote, and the menu navigation sucks

On the cons side the color gamut on this baby is lower at 78% but i have no major objections. IR Remote could have been better - especially discrete inputs for each source would rock - why o why is this never designed?

This monitor can be anything you want it to be and there is no better value in the market if you want all those features. If you want to buy just one monitor/TV for your house, buy this!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Customer Service I have experienced, September 3, 2009
This review is from: Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor (Electronics)
Like many of the other reviewers my monitor died after 18 months. Gateway support is awful. I would expect much better from a $2000 product. I can't get anyone on the phone - I have to go through the live chat. Here is a transcript of my useless live chat:

Jithu_GWSI376 joined the incident.

Welcome to Gateway Chat. My name and badge number are Jithu_GWSI376. I am looking at your account and the information you submitted. I will begin troubleshooting with you in just a moment.
Jithu_GWSI376 says:
Thank you for being online.
Jithu_GWSI376 says:
Can I confirm that the Serial Number is m1b7--------?
DataV says:
Yes, that is what is printed on the back of the monitor
Jithu_GWSI376 says:
From the serial number provided I see that the computer is Out of Warranty. As a One Time Best Effort I can provide you with some self help links to fix the issue.
Jithu_GWSI376 says:
Could you please brief the issue?
DataV says:
About a month ago the monitor started flickering. Today while it was on a vertical band of striped color appeared in the middle from top to bottom - the monitor is unusable. The video card and cable are fine, so the monitor is the problem.
Jithu_GWSI376 says:
Thank you for the information, Data.
Jithu_GWSI376 says:
Can I confirm that the issue is with Monitor?
DataV says:
Yes, the issue is definitely with the monitor. Even when the computer is not plugged it does the same thing. If you look at reviews at places like amazon you will see tha tthis is a common problem when the monitors are about a year old. I would expect much higher quality for 2000.
Jithu_GWSI376 says:
Thank you.
Jithu_GWSI376 says:
Please contact a Local Technician to resolve this issue.
DataV says:
That's all the help you can provide ? How about the name of a local technician in who will fix it ? Everyone I have contacted said that spare parts are not available from Gateway.
Jithu_GWSI376 says:
I apologize for any inconvenience or frustration caused by this issue. But this is the only option which we can inform you. We don't have information about Local Technician.
DataV says:
You have not given me any options. I now have a $2000 paper weight which nobody can fix. I purchase numerous items for my business. If this is the best you can do I will never purchase from Gateway again and I will make my experience VERY PUBLIC.
Jithu_GWSI376 says:
It was a pleasure working with you. Thank you for using Gateway Live Chat. Feel free to chat again anytime and have a great day.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this monitor. Its junk that breaks right after your warranty is up., March 27, 2009
This review is from: Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor (Electronics)
Very dissapointed with this monitor and gateway service. After 1 year and 2 months and of course off warranty I'm getting green banding and flickering constantly on the monitor. Its now unusable. I original paid $1800 with tax for this thing and I'm shocked at this level of quality. This is a high end premium product and for it to break after barely a year is criminal. This shouldn't be a disposable product. Gateway won't even provide me any mechanism to send it in for repair and no local service company will touch it. Search these reviews before you buy. I'm seeing several people with the same problem all right at or a little over the year mark. Don't get suckered by the specs/current price/and inputs it will break.

Shame on Gateway

1.0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS: Gateway Support is absolutely terrible!, January 14, 2009
This review is from: Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor (Electronics)
Hi All:
PROS:
I bought this monitor and it is truly wonderful--the absolute best features and a great display.

CONS:
The problem is that Gateway support is absolutely, incredibly incompetent and unhelpful.

DETAILS:
First, my power supply quit working. So I contacted Gateway via Chat. They said my warranty was expired because the monitor was manufactured in 2007. I pointed out that I bought it in Aug 2008 and that the printed warranty says warranty valid for 1 year from date of purchase. Gateway said that I had to contact customer service via e-mail. Gateway never responded to me. Fortunately, the power supply came back to life after 10 days.

Second, just today, after the monitor got unplugged, the Theft Deterrent feature appeared. The monitor would display Nothing but 720p TV. I contacted Gateway--after 30 mins--they could come up with answer and ended the chat. Fortunately unplugging the monitor a few times and turning off the computer brought everything back to life. (the tech explicitly said to NOT unplug the monitor again).

SUMMARY:

If you're thinking of buying this monitor, be aware that you're essentially getting NO support, NONE.

The monitor is great. I am just hoping and praying that something really bad doesn't happen.

RECOMMENDATION:

Buy the Dell. Less features. Great Service. I owned a Dell desktop and they have always been very, very responsive.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful...when it works, December 7, 2008
By
Andrew Zmolek (Highlands Ranch, CO USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I've had the XHD3000 since the beginning of 2008 and love the brightness, screen size, and wide variety of inputs. But in the month before its warranty expired, mine was been losing vertical lines from time to time before it warmed up and later it started flickering uncontrollably (regardless of input device or interface) for long stretches (go to product pictures above to see a photo I posted of the problem). I call up support and find out (after the tech I was working me gave me all kinds of grief for waiting a few weeks to contact Gateway then seemed be trying to discourage me from doing anything at all), I had to ship this monster (at my own cost - $40 Fedex ground, fully insured), and they don't do advance replacement.

Fortunately, they replaced it after a couple of weeks with a more recently manufactured unit that seemed to work fine one it had warmed up a bit. Occasionally, the image will go blank for a second or two for no discernable reason while it re-syncs but none of the old problems have re-appeared yet. With the recent price drop, I picked up another one (made sure to buy a 3rd-pary extended warranty just in case) and the ATI driver crashing issues I was having when I had the single monitor paired with a 24" Acer have magically disappeared.

Having a pair of these is makes for an unbelievable (and highly addictive) desktop experience. In the right setup and at the right price, this monitor may be perfect for you, too. But do your homework and consider adding a 3rd-party warranty to protect your investment. You can be fairly sure that Gateway isn't planning on staying in the 30" monitor business too much longer given the massive quality problems they've experienced with this one, and you're not going to get the same quality of support you would with Dell or Apple who value their customers in this market space.

2.0 out of 5 stars it was a great display while it lasted, December 24, 2008
This review is from: Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor (Electronics)
I bought this beautiful display about a year ago. It was a wonder to work on and really gave me the real estate I needed for high resolution images, documents and it was a greal PIP display so I could watch CNN while working. Unfortunately it died. First was a cast over parts of the display followed by one quarter of the screen turning into multocolor vertical lines. I read the Gateway site and it indicates that since I bought it from a retailer, I only had a 90 day warranty to start with. I will replace it with the Samsung 30" display available here on Amazon.

1.0 out of 5 stars a beautiful piece of crap, January 22, 2010

Paul Rossi "Irish Wizard" (el segundo, ca United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor (Electronics)
The best monitor in the world for about 2 years. Then it died.
The image degraded on all inputs to a green tint.
Customer support is beyond inept and incomprehensible.
Never buying anything from Gateway again.
They are bankrupt!

On September 4, 2007 Gateway announced that it had signed a definitive agreement to sell its professional business segment to MPC Corporation. This includes the company's Nashville-based configuration center.[2] MPC subsequently ceased its services and filed for bankruptcy protection in early 2009, leaving Gateway business customers stranded without access to support or warranty services. This incident has caused substantial damage to the Gateway brand, a company that formerly boasted high marks in customer support reviews. The company has yet to offer any reprieve to customers caught up in the MPC Corporation collapse, leaving hundreds of thousands of Gateway computer owners without access to support and refusing to honor system warranties

Run AWAY !

2.0 out of 5 stars Wanted it to work so bad..., December 15, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor (Electronics)
As the other reviewer wrote, VISTA keeps looking for a driver on this monitor but apparently there isnt one available. Next known problem is the constant blackouts I was having along with other sceen issues, side button problems and poor build quality. After 2 bad units I gave up and went back to Dell and got their w3008 30".
