Gateway One ZX4800-03 20-Inch Touch Screen All-in-One Desktop PC

Amazon only sells the ZX4800-03 model of this computer for some reason. If you do some research you will find the ZX4800-02 available for almost the exact same price with 4GB of RAM instead of 3 and a 750GB hard drive instead of 320. Big difference.

Bought the model that ends in ZX4800-02 - almost identical price with 750 gig of RAM and 4 gigs of RAM.


I like its clean profile (HP looks too busy to me as far as its looks go). We spend a lot of time in our kitchen around our island so I put ths PC in the kitchen as an "Appliance" because:

(1) As a jukebox with windows media center. Shows all my albums with album art and cool User Experience. I can navigate with touch and play/queue with another touch. Friends love it when I throw a party.
(2) I have connected this PC to cable jack with a TV tuner stick using its USB port in back. Again with Windows media center, I can watch TV programs browse program guides, record programs with its touch screen interface or remote control. I now have additional TV and DVR in kitchen.
(3) Since it has built in microphone and speakers, I also use it like a phone (using Skype). One touch and I am talking to a friend over a video chat.
(4) It plays all our pictures and videos slide shows when not in use.
(4) Of course it is a full blown Windows 7 pc as well that kids use when googling or playing games.

Comes with wireless keyboard and mouse. So the whole layout it clutter free. All for 640 dollars. I think at this point in technology evolution I cannot expect any more for the price.

The only complain I have so far is that the space bar on the keyboard has to be typed with a bit more force to register. minor issue.

Almost a year later - still an awesome machine going strong with no issues and same setup (added BOSE speakers). Windows 7 rocks! Re-read my review while checking on prices now. Hmmm - it has actually gone up. Not that surprised - it IS a good product.

I have always bought either a Dell, HP or Toshiba made laptop for my computer needs. A few months back, my daughter's Toshiba laptop had a hardware failure so I bought this Gateway computer for her. I, personally, have been a laptop user for the past 10 years so when my 7 year old HP laptop's internal fan finally quit working, I decided purchase the same Gateway computer mainly because how much my daughter was pleased with hers. I love the touch screen capabilities. It makes organizing videos, pictures and documents so much easier and quicker. Windows 7 is a huge improvement from Windows Vista. The monitor picture is pristine. The computer is so quiet, especially compared to the sounds a laptop makes. And I actually have more room on my desk than I did when my laptop was on it. Don't be fooled by the price, this is a great desktop computer. I am definitely a new Gateway fan! I am so happy with my Gateway. The Gateway's pricing is hard to beat when you consider the specs, quality and design of their products. I am even considering purchasing one of their netbooks for when I travel.

I am really pleased with the look and performance of this PC. By modeling after the Mac in it's style/appearance, and adding the uber-performing Windows 7, this PC is a joy to use. Space saving and with exceptional graphics, one could not ask for more. All of the ports are easily accessible the touch-screen is amazing. Sensitive (but not overly)and with very few glitches. I would like to say that I purchased this product for the reasons I have listed OTHER than the touch screen and was not let down,I have found the touch screen fun, but not a top selling point.

I bought this a year ago and I love it. I especially like being able to use Skype without hooking up ANYTHING else. No externals, no extra wires. I have used it so that elderly relatives from US can talk to relatives in another country.
Gateway has become The Pits. My first computer ever (15 years ago) was a Gateway and their customer support was AWESOME and FREE. I learned how to use a computer from their staff and they were in the USA.
This time, fuh ged aboudit! And whaddup with Microsoft Works? It should be called Doesn't Works.
I wish that Gateway would provide some way to learn about the Touch Screen features. I am clueless.

I really like the computer! It is very much like a laptop with a large screen. All of the parts seem to have the feel of a laptop. I purchased my computer in January of 2010 and the touchscreen went completely dead in May. When contacting Gateway, they act like the computer was made on Mars. They would not even talk to me without paying them because the computer was purchased from Best Buy. I was told to direct my questions to the place where I purchased it from. Fortunately, I did purchase an extended warranty and after it gets fixed I am likely to sell it. My dislikes about this computer is for Gateway's customer service and not the computer itself.

I brought this computer for my neice. She has a laptop and wanted this "touch screen". The clear plastic legs that hold the unit up look a little weak. If they holdup this should be a pretty good PC.

I absolutely love this computer. This is our first computer ever. It does everything I want and is a perfect fit for my family of four. I have 11 year old boys that love to game and download music. I scrapbook and this works well for me. My kids love the touchscreen feature and the speakers are a great sound quality. I would definitely recommend this to everyone!

The computer arrived with a tiney USB wireless connector stowed in the inside of the mouse. There was no written materials anywhere concening it's existance and the necessity to install it. There where no phone numbers for Gateway for assistance and the shop we bought it from was of no help at all and initially refussed to allow us to return it. Luckily we had another computer on line and found Gateway and was able to open up a live chat. It took them twenty minutes to tell us there was a connector in the mouse. Funny it was abel to reside in there even though we had installed the batteries. It was not easy to see and remove. Once installed every worked fine. EXCEPT. Since this is loaded with Microsoft 7 and there was absolutely no written materials telling us how to use the software we had to stumble through this process. I finally found a book at our public library on how to use 7 and we now are moving along. But I give Gateway an F for no phone, no instruction materials, twenty minutes to realize the problem. Obviously no one at Gateway had actually taken on of these things out of the box and tried to hook it up or use it themselves. Is everyone brain dead there?

everything is okay Gateway is as fast or faster than hpm several hundred bucks less, plenty of storage and technology, touch screen makes things easier ten minute set up and really saves energy.
