This review is from: Gathas of Zarathustra: Text (Hardcover)
Prof. Dr. Irach Jehangir Sorabji Taraporewala (1884-1956) probably the most profilic Zarathushtrian scholar of all times, spent a greater portion of his life studying and mastering the Gathic Avestan language with the nobler aim of providing the most correct English language translation of the Gathas of Prophet Zarathushtra. He spent over 30 years of his life on this project resulting in his monumental publication : The Divine Songs of Zarathushtra. This book is an abridged verison, only carrying the text of his translations without the philological and other academic apparatus. It nevertheless constitutes one of the most accurate and readable translation in the English langauge of the Gathas of Prophet Zarathushtra. I recommend this book as a must read to all Parsees, Zarathushtrians and readers of Zarathushtrian lore.
