More About the Author

Cate Dean has been writing since she could hold a pen in her hand and put more than two words together on paper.

She grew up losing herself in the wilds of fantasy worlds, and has had some of her own adventures while tromping through the UK, and a few other parts of the world.

A lover of all things supernatural, she infuses that love into her stories, giving them a unique edge.

When she's not writing, she loves cooking, scaring herself silly in the local cemeteries, and reading pretty much anything she can get her hands on.

There - I got the official biography out of the way. I love to write, and yes, I have been doing it most of my life. I've made up stories in my head for as long as I can remember, and I am thrilled to be able to write them down and share them with you.

I love writing different types of stories, and jump from fantasy, to paranormal, and over to romance. So many genres, so little time...

This book is yet another piece of evidence which speaks for the benefits of the self-publishing era. One thing, I especially liked about this book is conversation. She uses shorter paragraphs to describe a scene and then has you sit in with the characters as they converse about the next step in their lives. Almost, like watching a tv show.

Her writing is flawless and there are no hiccups in the story. You go along with broken Claire and then step aside as she discovers she has a bit more strength to fight, again.

Because I read Book 2 first, I did have a few questions which were answered when I finished Book 1. But on the off chance that you only want to read one book, it works too.

Would I recommend this read? Oh so definitely. Just for her writing style alone.

Overall assessment:
Content: 4.5/5
Editing: 4.5/5
Formatting: 4.5/5
Pacing: 4.5/5
Offensive content?: I would rate it PG to PG13.

Disclosure: I received a review copy of this book from the author through Orangeberry Book Tours. I did not receive any payment in exchange for this review nor was I obligated to write a positive one.

Ms. Dean has a writing style that allows me to see the characters and feel as though they are in my life. Scene descriptions were full and well thought out. The thoughts flowed very smoothly and had no stoppages that are common in a lot of YA literature.

I enjoyed this book so much that I've become quite the fan of Cate Dean, and intend to read every one of her books. I highly recommend this book to anyone.

I read this book as soon as it hit the virtual shelves. The first of the series was amazing, and I had high expectations for book two. Cate delivered. I got to know Claire better, and Annie was, as always, a wonderful breath of fresh air. Plus, there were a few new characters introduced which I loved! Thanks, Cate, for offering such a wonderful sequel. Just one question. When is book 3 coming out?

Things are certainly hopping in this series, I just read the second book in about two hours. Going back for the third as I can't stand the suspense of what's going to happen next!

I downloaded the first book in this series as a free download expecting an enjoyable, exciting, easy read and wasn't disappointed. I ripped through the story in two sittings and had this second in the series ready to go. This one surprised me. The depth of the characters developed and the addition of the new and continued storylines made sense and seemed natural, where sometimes a series can get hokey and lose my interest this one didn't. I'm already heading in to download the third!

I have start by saying I really enjoyed the first book and thought long and hard before I bought this one. But I just had to see how Claire was after going to Hell. The first couple of chapters were interesting and had the beginnings of very interesting and complex story plot. Then for some reason the author blew it. By the end of the story I found the plot to be silly and not well thought out. I think the author did a terrible job introducing new characters. I never really cared about them at all. Frankly, I don't care if Marcus ever comes back, why the priest was included or if Annie and Eric ever get married! I will not be buying any more of these books.

I am in love with these characters. Cate Dean has brought us into their world and makes us care. I really enjoy these short stories and would rate them five stars if they were longer.

Wonderful book, just as entertaining as the first. It was exciting to see the changes that took place in this book from the first one. The character development was wonderful, and I'm excited to read the third book In the series. Thank you for writing this book and I look forward to seeing what happens in book three.
