Meet the Man, April 11, 2008
For those of you not familiar with Jorn Lande, he is one of the most powerful and impressive vocalist in the melodic rock and metal genres. His voice is extremely similar to David Coverdale's, though he draws obvious inspiration from Phil Lynott and Ronnie James Dio as well. Jorn's had quite the storied career, working with several bands and projects in addition to his solo career.
The Gathering is the ideal way to become more familiar with Jorn Lande's work. It features remixed and in some cases totally rerecorded versions of songs from his early solo albums as well as some side projects. I'm not usually a fan of artists reworking their previous material, but I think Jorn does it well here.
Here's what you get:
From Jorn's 3rd album Out to Every Nation are Something Real, Young Forever, and One Day We Will Put Out the Sun. The somewhat silly bonus track Big from the Japanese import of Out to Every Nation is also included, which makes this of particular interest to those of us who weren't willing to pay the import price for that one song.
From Jorn's 2nd album Worldchanger are Bridges Will Burn, Tungur Knivur, Sunset Station, House of Cards, Worldchanger, and Christine.
From Jorn's debut album Starfire are Gate of Tears and Abyss of Evil.
The song Hourglass comes from the Millenium album of the same name that featured Jorn on vocals.
My Own Way comes from Jorn's collaboration with Russell Allen (of Symphony X) called The Battle.
Where the Winds Blow is from Ark's debut album. I'd have preferred something from Burn the Sun, but that's a minor complaint.
I believe the song Gonna Find the Sun is exclusive to this compilation. It's certainly not on any of the Jorn albums I own.
The only notable absences are material from the Mundanus Imperium album Spectral Spheres Coronation and Jorn's early work in Vagabond. Other than that, The Gathering provides a great overview of Jorn's career that is perfect for new fans and dedicated followers alike.

Jorn redone!!!!!, February 20, 2007
This is by no means a greatest hits. There are 11 re-recordings of older material and 5 new/unreleased tracks. The new tracks are 2, 8, 11, 14 & 16. All are awesome, and if you are a Jorn fan you know they will be. The re-recordings are also worth checking out because they have a somewhat (in most cases) slower heavier sound. The most standout re-recordings are the one's from the first 2 Jorn releases "Starfire" & "Worldchanger". The song off "Worldchanger" titled Christine is in my opinion one of my least favorite Jorn tracks, but they managed to make it less poppy and has a heavier groove now. The one's that are the most standout of the re-recordings are the one's off Jorn's weakest album "Starfire" : Gate of Tears & Abyss Of Evil, which totally freakin' ROCK now. He already did the track Starfire over on "The Duke" and now these 2. Now he just needs to re-do the other 7 tracks from that album and make them all better.
All in all, this release is awesome, especially for the re-recordings of the tracks from Worldchanger & Starfire which kinda needed the help, and what awesome help it was. Any and all Jorn fans should own these and fans of excellent quality Melodic Metal/Hard Rock would not be dissapointed as well. And for the uninitiated, Jorns vocal's are some of the best, if not the best, for this type of music out there today. So smooth!

A worthy compilation of the man!, August 15, 2009
I heard jorn's recent stuff with masterplan and since he was highly respectful as a singer I say solo albums would be more appropriate for his kinda music carrer. I never owned any of jorns albums except the debut album of masterplan and 1 song from avantasia so I had to get me atleast 1 of his solo albums with more songs as in a compilation album so I got this. His singing was outstanding (I guess anyone can take a hint) and I didn't expect much from the music but it was a real metal paradise and the album cover looks awesome with the crows the lake and that fancy chair.
Im still pretty much a new fan to jorn's stuff so I figured this is the best place to start and any jorn albums are worthy of owning.
