Book Description

June 13, 2006

Growing weary and increasingly unsettled with church-as-usual, Casey Ellis longs to find a church where she can experience more of God. So when she's invited to visit a lively group of believers who enthusiastically embrace their beliefs, Casey decides to see what it's all about.

Soon after, Casey is immersed in The Gathering. Overcome by the warmth of community, the careful attention of new friends, and the impartation of holy truth, Casey believes she's found what she's looking for—until the group becomes increasingly controlling over her life.

Is it possible that her quest for God has plunged her into spiritual deception? Can God reach beyond the walls of a group's control to free her? How can she ever trust her own judgment again?

About the Author

When Becca Anderson graduated with a degree in journalism, she was just following the tradition of other writers who have hung on the family tree. Today, she makes a living in freelance article writing, but reserves her passion for crafting meaningful fiction for the contemporary Christian reader. She and her husband live in East Texas, where she's always storing away material for another book in some corner of her computer hard drive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping and believable, August 21, 2006
This review is from: The Gathering Place (Paperback)
The Gathering Place is well written and totally believable. You will feel like these are people that you know. If you are a person who longs to experience God and who feels the traditional church leaves you hungry, you will identify with Casey. You will hurt as you see her being trapped and will rejoice as Becca Anderson skillfully moves the story to a satisfying conclusion. The Gathering Place has depth, purpose, value, and meaning and is just plain good reading.
