5.0 out of 5 stars Looking forward to a sequel
I finally got the chance to read your novel. Wow, it was worth the wait! I wanted to keep reading about Casey and her life. Keep up the good work and think about a sequel!

1.0 out of 5 stars vague and disappointing
I looked so forward to buying this book after I read the back blurb. Unfortunately, that was the most exciting part of it for me. The characters were vague and unimaginitive. It was like seeing stick figures in my mind. The character of Casey was too childish. The premise was very good but the writing just wasn't up to the subject.

5.0 out of 5 stars When's the Sequel?, August 26, 2006
This review is from: The Gathering Place (Paperback)
I could not get dressed for my granddaughter's birthday party because I wanted to see what would happen next with Casey! Becca Anderson is a tremendous storyteller and her novel is addictive! Please, Becca, write the sequel! Jerrilyne Roberson

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping and believable, August 21, 2006
This review is from: The Gathering Place (Paperback)
The Gathering Place is well written and totally believable. You will feel like these are people that you know. If you are a person who longs to experience God and who feels the traditional church leaves you hungry, you will identify with Casey. You will hurt as you see her being trapped and will rejoice as Becca Anderson skillfully moves the story to a satisfying conclusion. The Gathering Place has depth, purpose, value, and meaning and is just plain good reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and Insightful., October 11, 2006

Spiritual deception is easy for almost anyone to fall into. It can infiltrate even the most mainstream denominations. Becca Anderson takes on the difficult task of pointing out some things we all have to look out for, without pointing any fingers.
I read The Gathering Place all in one night. As noted in the one review, I saw Casey as somewhat childlike, however, no more so than the average Christian. Most people are follower types by nature, and most churches in one way or another give the message that they are the "right" or "only" church. I would recommend this book to anyone. CJA - TN.

5.0 out of 5 stars opening a new world, October 6, 2006
This review is from: The Gathering Place (Paperback)
I have been saved from being swept into a place of deception. I have attended a gathering or so in the cities where we have lived, but fortunately have had a strong sense of the wrongness of things being taught. Becca has opened to me the world of the intense hunger that would draw someone needy into deception. I applaud her for the descriptive way she has opened that world to me. I especially like that she knows cats and gardening intimately.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gathering Place, September 22, 2006
This review is from: The Gathering Place (Paperback)
The Gathering Place is an insightful telling of the facts of groups such as this. It is full of suspense that keeps you reading to the end without wanting to stop. The personalities become "real people", whether they are good or bad. Reading it only once is not enough...you immediately want to start over again to absorb the thoughts and feelings you may have missed. Becca Anderson has done excellent work in weaving a story that should enlighten all of us.

I started reading this book with apprehension, it was a new author and a new theme for me. I thought I would be ready to put it down after a few pages...I finally put it down after I read the whole book. I have recommended it to several friends and am looking forward to discussing it when they have read it. The book is well written, that is an understatement. The characters, the topic, the writing and the whole experience have been a pleasure. I love reading good works and look forward to more books by Becca Anderson.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gathering Place, August 10, 2006

The Gathering Place is definitely an attention-gripping, don't-put-me-down-kind of book.
The characters are so real that I hesitate to refer to them as characters. It was easy to feel their emotions and share their experiences.
The language is precise and vivid. Those who appreciate nature will appreciate descriptions such as the one on pg. 241 of "...the stars that punctuated the dark bowl of the sky."
An example of the novel's thought-provoking content is a question raised on p. 220: "Am I closer to Jesus this evening than I was this morning? And if I am, would I be if I didn't have this disease?" Another example appears on p. 299 when Jessie expresses a thought about living a physical life with a
spiritual dimension versus living a spiritual life with a physical dimension.
The Gathering Place is entertaining, inspiring and thought-provoking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and Real, August 17, 2006
This review is from: The Gathering Place (Paperback)
Wow. Great read. I didn't want to put it down - which is unusual for me. Surprises in the characters and plot were exhilarating and so true to the story of deception. I plan to get a copy of this book to a friend who lived out this story and has connections with some who still are. Makes even the mainstream Christian think about expectations of others.

The fact that we just became cat owners made this book even better. I loved the role and descriptions of Andrew, the main character's cat.
