Again and again, I find myself returning to Susan Davis's fearless poems for solace in the face of impossible grief. Her intrepid willingness to pay attention, to be present in her life however difficult the circumstances, renders a sense of hope that's hard-earned and luminous.

If you are a poetry lover, you will enjoy immensely wrapping yourself in Ms Davis' rich images and image concoctions. If you are new to poetry but think you might like to dip your toe in that ocean, this will be a lovely lifeboat, leading you into a world of rhythm and image. A wonderful collection -- I wish she'd write another.
