I can't say enough positive things about this case. I took two P-Basses with me on a 7-week US Tour last fall. We traveled in a bus and the gear was behind us in a trailer. The cases survived being crammed in with big road cases, under drums and merch, and they still look BRAND NEW. They still open and close like a dream, despite my 1/2" thick bass strap- and most importantly, they protected my basses.

I just got back from a fly-date in Indiana. We flew Southwest and of course I had to check my bass. The case, with P-Bass, strap and cables - weighed 25 pounds! I didn't have to pay to check it. I got scanned by the TSA folks, but they were able to open & close it with no problem (phew.) The security lady even commented on my Zeppelin sticker :)

I have owned the g-tour cases, TKL and SKB cases, and I wouldn't trade my Gator ATAs for anything. They are lighter, more durable, and look better than any case (bass or otherwise)I have ever owned.

I recently purchased an Ibanez BTB series 5 string bass that came without a case. According to the Ibanez website, that particular series needs a special case...this is not true, because I was able to use any of my five other bass cases, including my Jazz or Rickenbacker case. So I purchased this Gator case and absolutely LOVE it! The design is sleeker than most other cases, yet is actually thicker which offers more protection. The handle is perfectly balanced so much so that my wife enjoys carrying it to my gigs..and she is only 5'4", 105lbs! The interior really looks like a display case with its dark red velvety plushness, and the bass fits perfectly and snuggly in its place without any shifting around.
My only complaint is one of the latches tends to pop open somewhat easily if that latch gets bumped or caught on something. But with a total of four latches, it is still quite secure. Other than that, I like this case a lot more than others that cost more money. Try it, you'll like it!

The Gator ATA-Style Guitar Case with TSA Latches for Bass Guitars is an average flight case which can help you out in a jam when you need something quick and cheap. Due to a mix up in shipping and other dramatic events, the new bass I ordered came without a hard shell case and I needed one as I was flying out to play a major heavy metal festival at the end of May 2011.

The case fits my bass and the crushed velvet interior lining, foam, and neck cradle secured my bass snugly so there's little chance of it moving around in transport. The TSA lock is nice but truthfully, if anyone wanted to break into the case, the lock can be pried open easily. Many of my musician friends have been using old hard shell cases without the luxury of TSA locks for years without any problems (as have I), so this was never a big selling point for me when purchasing it. In fact, the biggest selling point was that it's a cheap case and I needed one asap!

When opening the case, a flimsy strap keeps the top half from flopping open. But after opening and closing the case a few times, the strap became frayed and finally ripped from the velvet lining in which it was sewn. This perplexed me, especially since it was brand new and I never roughly handled it. I ended up cutting the rest of the strap out. The next issue I have with the case is its susceptibility to high heat. The case was left out in the heat of the summer alongside several other cases for about two hours. And it was a scorcher. High-90s, 100% humidity; the weather was punishing and unforgiving. Imagine my surprise when I return with my bass and the brand new Gator case is warped like a cheap piece of plastic left under the sun for a few hours. The various other guitar cases seemed to be fine but mine looked like it had been stuck in a microwave.

I bought this case for traveling to Denmark from the states for my semester abroad. I have to say, I was a little concerned about having to check my P-Bass on an airline but it actually survived a round trip though several airports and layovers. Yes you have your usual scratches and bumps but that's exactly what the case is for! The case is well made and everything inside was kept perfectly safe. The only concern I would have about putting your bass in this case would be it rattling around around the neck area. My solution was to put a folded towel behind the headstock so it fits more snug. The TSA locks are fine. I can't provide details on their security because I haven't tried to break into my case but the guitar was still there so yeah. And just a reminder to all who travel on planes with their guitars: loosen the strings before you check the case.

Bought this case to take a new Fender P-Bass from Orlando to Caracas Venezuela. The case was stowed in the luggage bin for two flights (Orlando - Miami and Miami - Caracas by American Airlines). It arrived with all other luggage in intact condition. Not one scratch and the bass inside was well protected. TSA lock proved useful, as the TSA opened the case and left a notice.

The only thing I'm not so fond off are the metal hinges bolted into the plastic frame... seems like they could eventually snap.
