Light and thin,

I ended up sending this gator case back. I liked how lightweight it was, but I felt the foam used as protection was too thin on the sides and especially in corners. I have a very old vintage horn, so for me it felt too risky. If lightweight is your main desire though, this might be the case for you. Also check out offerings from protec before buying.

Falling apart already!,

My son got this for a Christmas gift in '08, and the outer zipper compartment has already come unstitched from the case, leaving a gaping hole and rendering said zipper compartment unusable. I sent an email to the Gator Company so we'll see if they stand behind their product.UPDATE: Nov. '09: Never got ANY reply from them. So much for Gator's customer service. I will try once more, but at this point I can't go any lower than 1 star... UPDATE: April '10: Nothing. Wrote to them again, and NOTHING. Go with a different manufacturer who has a functional customer service department.

I've been buying Gator GL cases for my vintage saxophones for several years and have found them to fit a wide variety of instruments, including big bell Keilwerths and Bueschers. I've had no issues with quality on the 7 or 8 of these I've bought. They don't offer enough protection to check your saxophone on an airline (you would want an Anvil case), but they are compact and light enough to carry on with lots of pockets for reeds, mouthpieces, etc. If this case doesn't offer enough protection for you, you aren't treating your saxophone very well.
