Excellent children's book especially for teaching fractions,
By A Customer
This review is from: Gator Pie (Paperback)
This children's picture book is about some aligators who want to share a pie. On each page more gators come and they have to figure out how to divide the pie to make it equal until the end when there are 100 gators. Read it to find out what they do. Excellent introduction to fractions for grades K-3.

Cute Little Story w/ Adorable Illustrations,
This review is from: Gator Pie (Hardcover)
This is a cute story that will help your children learn about fractions and how aligators divide a chocolate marshmallow pie. The illustrations are adorable. Basically, there are two alligators, Alvin and Alice, in a swamp who discover a large pie on a picnic table. They decide to each have some pie and divide it in half, but then, as more and more alligators come right before it's about to be eaten, the pieces get smaller and smaller. Finally, a whole army of aligators show up demanding some pie. These are no ordinary alligators--they have metal helmets on. Then, the pie must be divided into teeny thin slices (100 slices). The pieces are so tiny that the alligators begin fighting over who can get which piece because it might be bigger. While they fight, Alvin and Alice alligator couple take away the pie, divide it in half again, and enjoy their cholcolate marshmallow pie together in the swamp.

This review is from: Gator Pie (Paperback)
This book is amazing. Not only does it have an exciting and funny story, but it also teaches about fractions in a fun way, without bashing you over the head with it. I read it a million times when I was younger, and never realized I was learning. Later, when I started learning fractions at school, I understood them right away and was leap-years ahead of all the other second-graders. :D
