5.0 out of 5 stars Drink safe and durable
I bought 5 of these 3 years ago and leave them outside. They still look new. Water out of them is safe to drink and tastes good. Perfect for gardening. They are very sturdy and thick-walled--which makes them a bit stiffer than cheaper hoses--as a previous reviewer has stated. This hose is nice and light and of course the water is drinkable. What is not mentioned is how difficult it is to coil and uncoil. I spend way too much time untangling knots.

This review is from: GatorHyde Drinking Water Safe Garden Hose - 5/8 x 50 ft
I bought 5 of these 3 years ago and leave them outside. They still look new. Water out of them is safe to drink and tastes good. Perfect for gardening. They are very sturdy and thick-walled--which makes them a bit stiffer than cheaper hoses--as a previous reviewer has stated. But these are the best hoses I have purchased in terms of durability and safeness. I would not drink water or water garden out of standard hoses, they contain lead and lots of carcinogenic chemicals. There are only a few hose types that are drink safe, and of them, I like this one best.

Gator Hyde hoses have Ni (Nickel) ends so they don't leach lead (Pb) like cheap brass fittings do. Also, the plastic does not leach lead, PCBs or plasticizers like all big box store brands I have seen. If you read the labels on the hoses in the big box store, you will see that it warns you not to drink out of them. Do you really want that?

I have never had a problem with these tangling up as a previous reviewer reported, but they are thicker-walled than typical hoses so they do not bend into tight turns easily. I do coil mine, but I do a 2 foot diameter coil.
