3.0 out of 5 stars Well, it's a gauntlet I guess August 20, 2014
Admittedly, I haven't played the first Gauntlet game (not even in arcades...), but I did not really know what to expect when I've gotten Gauntlet II. It seemed like it would be a fantasy combat-adventure kind of game, and it's nice to see that it supports multiplayer. After all, a game like this would always be more fun with friends or siblings to play with, am I right? Well...maybe. I'm not quite sure in this game's case.

Gauntlet II has you venture across a whopping ONE HUNDRED levels, and the mechanics involve moving around, attacking, and finding the exit. Just imagine The Legend of Zelda, except with much smaller areas and you just have to find an exit to move on, and that's exactly how Gauntlet II plays.

However, I believe Gauntlet II might be too simple for its own good. While there are new gimmicks such as teleporters and rocks to break as levels go on, the atmosphere is shockingly basic. There's no music, and the graphics are considerably bare-bones. Worse, unlike Bubble Bobble, the game doesn't end once you beat the 100th level, rather does the game just loop the lineup all over again.

Proceed with caution. And be sure to have friends with you.

It's a fun dungeon crawler for 4 people tho this version doesn't have an ending and just loops. I have bought 3 copies of this game and all 3 didn't work until i blew into one over 1,000 times and it finally worked. I believe that this game might not be built as good as some other cartridges since I ran into 3 bad copies of this game. Buyer beware for this title because the blowing method doesn't always fix a game. You can using rubbing alchool and q-tip method but that doesn't always fix some really dirty games. There's also the eraser method you can use if you have the nintendo security bit to unlock the nes cartridge. And last of all there's one more solution I know of that you can try if it comes down to this and that is to use sand paper on the contacts with rubbing alcohol on the sand paper. I do not recommend the sand paper method unless it seriously is your last option. Keep in mind you can destroy the contacts entirely if you end up scratching too hard. I will say however that I have brought games that didn't work at all back from the dead with the sand paper method. Make sure that you get your money refunded from the seller that sold you a bad game before you try the sand paper method.

Also, if the seller wants the game back make sure they pay for the shipping since they sent you a dead game in the first place. If they don't then you should open up a case against them on amazon or ebay. If someone is going to sell Nes games online than they really better be testing these Nes games on a real Nes console with a new 72 pin connector. I am a bit annoyed that a lot of sellers sell games with dirty contacts too. Meaning you usually have to clean the cartrdges yourself after buying it from them because they were too lazy to clean the cartridge that they are selling.
