5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book!!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this hillarious book! As a gay man, I could see a lot of myself and my friends in the descriptions and great illustrations. Gaydar was superbly written... funny as hell, with the greatest respect to gay individuals.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pul-eeze, Mary! ...
This lightweight book offers only the age old stereotypes of gay men as squealing, twittering, sexual prodigies obsessed with body image, clothes, stuffed animals, divas, and bon mots. This lightweight book offers only the age old stereotypes of gay men as squealing, twittering, sexual prodigies obsessed with body image, clothes, stuffed animals, divas, and bon mots. Judy Garland, Bette Davis, and other stars of the silver screen are cited as gay icons; many homomasculine young men of my acquaintance refreshingly don't know a thing about these dead women. This book is OK for guys who are looking for a chuckle or two at the expense of their own people but for me the entire piece was tiresome and insignificant. Don't embarass yourself by giving this book as a gift to anyone. If you must have a look-see though, check the book out at a public library and save your hard earned dollars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Christmas Present, November 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Gaydar: The Ultimate Insider Guide to the Gay Sixth Sense (Hardcover)
This book is funny and beautifully illustrated. But it's not just another flip look at gay life. Rather it's a nuanced and thoughtful examination of what makes "us" tick.
It's great birthday or holiday gift for someone special or someone difficult to buy for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helped Me Out A Lot, January 20, 2004
This review is from: Gaydar: The Ultimate Insider Guide to the Gay Sixth Sense (Hardcover)
As a "rampantly homosexual" man, this book certainly helped me hone my Gaydar into an intricate tracking device. No longer is it a jungle out there in the sea of humanity! This book really helped me see and understand my internal Gaydar ability much better. I've met many new men as a result, and am much happier with my homosexual self.

4.0 out of 5 stars Either You've Got It or You Don't!, April 11, 2003
This review is from: Gaydar: The Ultimate Insider Guide to the Gay Sixth Sense (Hardcover)
Either you've got it or you don't, or if your "Gaydar" has become a little rusty this hilarious book will help you to fine-tune or polish your sense of who isn't gay and who is. What does it matter if this book is based on stereotypes or is not politically correct, it's a good way to spend a few hours of light reading, and be entertained at the same time. The author was even nice enough to give us a "Warning" at the beginning of the book, so the reader can proceed at his own risk, and not have any misconceptions. This book is beautifully illustrated throughout by Reuter with appropriate drawings for each section. It is divided into ten sections that include; gaywear, gaybody, gayness, gayspeak, and much more.

Whether you are new on the scene or have been around for quite sometime, this book will more than likely have something new to teach you. Your "Gaydar" will always be in tip-top shape if you heed the advice Reuter has to offer in this colorful & funny gem of a book. It is worth a look, that's for sure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Laughed until I cried, March 18, 2003
This review is from: Gaydar: The Ultimate Insider Guide to the Gay Sixth Sense (Hardcover)
Oh my gawd! I literally stained the pages with tears of hysterical laughter. I leave it out for people to see, and I've found that many males that swear they have no "traits" must hang their heads in admission that they love craft stores and movie musicals.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stereotypes On Parade, January 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Gaydar: The Ultimate Insider Guide to the Gay Sixth Sense (Hardcover)
I bought this book as a Christmas gift for a friend. I'm glad I looked at it before wrapping it. Not even humorous enough for me to donate to a used book store.

Save your money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Reuter to the Rescue, August 23, 2005
This review is from: Gaydar: The Ultimate Insider Guide to the Gay Sixth Sense (Hardcover)
With tongue firmly in cheek, Don Reuter reminds gay people of who they are, even as he introduces them to his straight readers. He succeeds in both goals admirably, and readers of any gender persuasion will laugh their way to an understanding of a gay culture in which, consciously or not, they already participate.

what a fun little book... i had a copy of my own and enjoyed it so much that i bought an additional copy for one of my staff. she enjoyed every bit as much as i did... sometimes it feels good not to be so very serious about ourselves, just lighten up and have a good time... that's what this title did for me...
