If this was supposed to be an improved version of Gazillion Bubble Typhoon it turned out to be the opposite. I bought the item (for less than half the price) at Walmart in hopes of finding the next big thing, in terms of bubble machines. I tried several machines in the past ranging from really cheap ones to professional machines so i have an idea of what works and what doesn't. The bubbles sit on top and get fed per gravity which is the only positive thing about the machine. The solution slowly runs into the pan where the wands get submerged. These are not round wands which rotate, but a series of half-round wands on horizontal axles which move from left to right and back in an 180 degree angle. The fan below is supposed to send the bubbles up. Sounds good in theory , and works great for about a minute, but thats where it ends.First the bubbles will start sticking together to form huge ones that barely lift off the machine .Occasionally the machine will still spit out a "normal" bubble, but nowhere near the amount thats advertised. Gradually the solution turns into a white bubbly mess that starts pouring out of the machine.(picture boiling milk running over) and thats the end of it. The only way to make the machine work is to have someone blow the white mess off every few seconds, possibly with a compressed keyboard cleaner.Or pour out all the solution and clean it from the ground up, then you might get 30 seconds of fun, either way, it's a design gone badly wrong. You are MUCH better off with the original Gazillion Bubble Machine, sold here at amazon for about 15$ .It requires 6 AA batteries (compared to 4) and more frequent refills but it is reliable and really does put out a "gazillion" bubbles...

I bought the Gazillion bubble typhoon at a store and used it nearly every day during July! My kids loved it! Then we left it outside and the dog chewed it up. I wanted to use a bubble machine for a "car wash" at my son's birthday party, but since it was no longer summer, I couldn't find any at the store. So I ordered the same one we used before- the gazillion bubble typhoon. I saw several negative reviews, but based on my own positive experience with this item, I ordered it. From the first time I tried to use it, it hardly blows any bubbles. I am so disappointed!! I only used the Gazillion bubbles and I don't understand why it won't blow more than 2 or 3 bubbles at a time. :(

Qualified Rating: I was going to give it 2 stars but then I added an A/C adapter (a simple DIY project) with these components-->
(1) Output 9V 3A AC/DC Power Supply Cord Charger IEC320 C8 Socket Adapter $13.40
(2) SF Cable, 6ft 18 AWG 2-Slot Non-Polarized Power Cord (IEC320 C7 to NEMA 1-15P) $5.95
Now, that drives the total cost up to $45 bucks, but let me tell you, with the added power, this machine really cranks out the bubbles (10,000 per minute, maybe? I lost count LOL). Running it with the 4 AA batteries was OK for a couple of minutes, then the batteries fail quickly. Adding the A/C to 9V DC power supply made all the difference in the world! My Kids Love It!

The model I have, which I bought 6/25/14 from TRU, takes 4 batteries. We pour the bubbles in instead of letting the bottle feed it for no other reason than more parental control I guess. My 2 and 3 year old LOVE IT. There's a constant stream of consistently sized bubbles putting literally dozens in the air at a time. We tried it with Miracle Bubbles and the bubbles were much more wet and messy than the Gazillion Bubbles. (Which is what brought me to Amazon - I'd rather have more Bazillion Bubbles) For what it's worth, we have not used it outside yet, only indoors. But I don't anticipate any problems with it's function outdoors.
