Album after album, Mia Doi Todd has delivered one of the most strikingly original bodies of work in recent years. Contemplative, intimate, deeply personal, and totally uncompromising (how about that TEN-MINUTE opening track? ), Doi Todd seems completely oblivious to trends/fads and but rather intent on putting forth the purest, at times shockingly intimate, work. This may be her most accomplished (and accessible) effort to date with some magnificent string arrangements; great songs; superb singing. Hers is a complex world that may take the listener a few attempts to penetrate. But once inside it, the intelligent listener can expect many lasting rewards. These songs, like all of Mia's songs, keep on giving and giving, shedding light on new, beguiling dark corners with each listen.
Certainly THE talent deserving wider recognition on the scene today. Mia Doi Todd -- the real deal!
