5.0 out of 5 stars In an age where compliation albums seem watered down or reduntant to larger collections, this playlist shines!
I have many of these songs, but the mix and the songs that fill gaps are choice. Would I have put this compilation together the same way? No... but this hits a "highest-common denominator." A must have for any collection, big or small.

Order it and hit the road with the windows down and the stereo cranked.

3.0 out of 5 stars About a zillion other releases that are the equal of this
Reaching perhaps a larger audience than such a compilation normally would due to it's association with the highly popular British TV show Top Gear this double CD represents decent enough value for money....assuming you don't pay too much for it.

Many of the songs on it you'll already have or are so common you'll feel that you already own them. Others really...

This review is from: Top Gear Anthems 2007 (Audio CD)
Reaching perhaps a larger audience than such a compilation normally would due to it's association with the highly popular British TV show Top Gear this double CD represents decent enough value for money....assuming you don't pay too much for it.

Many of the songs on it you'll already have or are so common you'll feel that you already own them. Others really don't strike me as 'driving songs' - Turn It On Again by Genesis anyone?

There are some great slices of rock 'n' roll here from Motorhead, Steppenwolf, Ram Jam, Free, Deep Purple, Queen, Meatloaf, Bodyrockers, Whitesnake, ZZ Top and a raft of others. And a few unusual yet cool choices like the Blue Oyster Cult with their (Don't Fear) The Reaper.

The real problem is that there are a billion other collections just like this with titles like 'best rock album...ever' or 'beer drinking songs' or 'songs for my ute' or somesuch. And in this day and age of MP3 downloading anyone can make up a selection that more perfectly fits their taste.

Don't get me wrong, there is some good stuff here, it's just got a lot of competitors that are playing with the same average.

what a disappointment this is, this is just a collection of classic rock.....none of the opera or new age music used on the show is here...
