This one was cheaper that some of the alternatives.

I tried using it for a few days but found I had to slow my typing to one key every second and even then it would still occasionally miss.
Neal Gibson
It has now been 11 days since original RMA request and I still have nothing despite another email asking for status update.

Also sometimes the glidepoint is glitchy and has to be tapped a couple of times to stop it from moving around on its own. Key presses are pretty decent, the backspace is the same size as the other keys so it is hard to find sometimes. Range seems pretty decent for a non-blue tooth keyboard. I am using a for a home theatre pc about 5 feet away with a little bit of line of site interference with no issues. I previously had an older model Adesso RF keyboard with glidepoint, very similiar design. In comparison the the Adesso the wireless range and keypresses are a little better than the Adesso but the stability of the Adesso seemed a little better, that is until the wife drops it on the tile floor from three feet in the air and it makes a "crunch noise". Also, I really miss the side scroll of the Adesso.
If not for fear of a $110 "crunch" accident in the future I would have went with one of the Adesso blue tooth keyboards of similiar design with the glidepoint in the front of the keyboard. I think it is one of the best designs for a home theatre keyboard. It gives ample room to rest your wrists while the keyboard is on your lap.

I need a wireless keyboard because I use my laptop as my primary computer and since it is used on a desk and not at keyboard height, it causes me carpal tunnel issues. I bought this one after returning the Adesso unit that is similar because it was too jumpy. The GearHead is actually even worse. There is no way to disable the tapping feature on the slide pad, and simply hovering over it with my fingers caused me to send emails that weren't ready, open and close browser tabs, delete sections of text in docs, etc. This also causes the auto-scroll to engage randomly, which I found extremely annoying. Also, b/c the Return and Shift keys are smaller than normal and located with up arrow and page up keys next to them that are not normally there, I found myself typing on lines above where I started, or jumping from page to page when I did not intend to. CTL is usually on the bottom row of a keyboard, but it is on the next row up on this board, so I kept hitting the Function key instead of Control.

Can you get used to all of these difficulties? Perhaps with a lot of time and patience, but I don't have it and can't afford to make so many mistakes during the learning curve. If you want this keyboard simply as a means to interact with your TV, it is probably fine, but don't try to use it as a primary keyboard. Mine, however, is going back to where it was purchased.

Purchased this keyboard from Fry's, was looking for a cheap keyboard for my HTPC. The keyboard works, for the most part. None of the "hot keys" (volume was the only one I really wanted) work, for one. Also, tap-click is hardwired into the board, there is no way that I found to turn it off. Several of my keys would only work if I smashed them quite hard (most noticeably the "S" key, arrow keys, and the spacebar). Two finger scroll worked, but was very jittery and would sometimes stick in scroll mode, and I'd have to tap a couple times to get it out of that mode. Trackpad was very unresponsive. This was from about 5 ft away, with direct line-of-sight to the transmitter. Overall, it is a (mostly) functioning keyboard, but was very disappointing. Returned it and picked up a Logitech K400, which is orders of magnitude better, for about $5 more.

The unit I received was dead on arrival, tried on 3 different computers. I am an IT Professional so getting something trivial like this keyboard should be no problem for me. Contacted support at gearhead via email, completely documenting all tests done, 2 days later no response so created an RMA request with Gear Head, 4 days after that I get a response to my first email, stating that I should try this... (stuff already done). I wrote back explaining it was already done, and that I was disappointed in their lack of timely responses and that the RMA request had been sitting idle for 6 hrs even though was told would have shipping labels within 48hrs.

Was informed that email support was not a priority and they get to it when they are able too. It has now been 11 days since original RMA request and I still have nothing despite another email asking for status update.

Update: 3/24
Still not help from Gear Head. I ended up throwing there brand new product in the garbage as they will not honor there commitment to taking care of the problem.

Does the job at a very resonable price. Just plugged in the receiver and it worked like a charm. I think I got about a 20 foot range from the keyboard to computer.

Despite the fact that this keyboard's wireless feature works just fine, this keyboard has been the bane of my existence for the past week. I have been trying to drop and drag files, and it has been copying the files to the wrong folders. It is so sensitive that I have accidentally closed windows and purchased tickets without even realizing I touched the "submit" button. It constantly erases what I have written and puts the cursor into the middle of the text that I've already typed. I am so disappointed and unhappy with this keyboard and already have a replacement on the way. Do yourself a favor and purchase a different product.
