I'll start with Danaher. Now, Danaher makes Matco Tools, Armstrong, Silver Eagle, Kobalt, Craftsman, NAPA, Allen, Gear Wrench, and K-D Tools. I’m actually not sure if they are called Danaher anymore, they may be called Apex Group, or split in two forming Danaher and Apex but regardless, they’re all under the same umbrella, which is why you’ll find many similarities between these products if you look closely. Now before we get crazy and say that Kobalt is just as good as Armstrong, we must understand this does not mean they’re all of the exact same quality, or even made in the same place. Some of Matco and Armstrong tools are finer than craftsman or kobalt, by a considerable amount. Just know the battle between Kobalt, craftsman and gearwrench, Sometimes, can be a bit silly. But sometimes..... its not.

So let’s break it down like this,

Danaher owns the following:

Matco Tools = very high end
Armstrong = industrial high end
Silver eagle = industrial
Kobalt/Craftsman/Napa/Allen/Gearwrench/K-D = home, hobby, otherwise light use.

Starting with silver eagle, you’ll begin to find more Taiwan/China made products, though they are still tough and respectable as far as usable tools go. Sometimes, you’ll find name brands at the bottom of this list can float into the industrial side of the world in quality, I see this often with Napa.
Quality and features in the bottom list seems to always be floating around, keeping the market busy and tool sales up from people who don’t use or need tools every day with an attempt to spark interest. And on occasion, some of the great quality at the top of the list will trickle down to some of the lower end brands because of some bulk materials or other various reasons.

--RANT ON--
First off, one of the best features of these GearWrench sockets is the fact that they are well marked by "STAMPING".
Many other brands of sockets have now gone to a "laser etched" method of marking, which is far inferior.
This etching is hard to read, and easily wears off. Soon you have a tool that you can't tell what size or brand it is.
Guess what happens if you try to get warranty on it? "Sorry Sir. That tool can't be identified as OUR brand."
--RANT OFF--

A very complete set of high quality metric and standard sockets that doesn't skip any sizes.

Not mentioned in the description is that the sockets use a "flank drive" profile to minimize fastener head rounding.

Another not adequately described feature is the deep sockets. Most deep sockets have the fastener drive opening machined all the way to the bottom of the socket. This can make it difficult to start a bolt, or start threading a nut on, as the fastener slides deep inside the socket. These gearwrench deep sockets have the fastener drive profile machined only as deep as the fastener nut or head, so you can apply a little pressure to the fastener as you begin to thread it.

The ratchets are quality, and comfortable to use. A fairly fine 60 tooth count gear mechanism operates smoothly and allows for repositioning every 6 degrees in tight locations.

Only two areas to nit-pick, as far as I'm concerned:

1. Although the case is well constructed with quality hinges and latches that will last a long time, it does not have a handle.
2. The ratchets do not have a quick release button. A feature that I miss.

As with most of the reviewers, I found these tools to be of good quality and a very good value for the amount paid. The set is complete and covers most of the sizes needed for everything but specialized jobs. As other reviewers have noted, they are clearly and well marked. Which is very nice.

Mechanically, these tools feel very nice in your hand. The actions to install and remove sockets is crisp and the retaining ball bearing does its job well to secure the socket when it use, and is not difficult to disengage when you are ready to change sockets. Some, who have experience with lower cost tools, know how a wrench feels when the socket or extension connection to the ratchet is loose or sloppy. These are not like that and feel good in your hands. This is not only an issue with feel. If the connections are sloppy it is often difficult to guide the socket onto the bolt it is intended to be used on, especially if an extension is being used.

Most people read reviews looking for a clue as to problems they might find. There are several minor points I will make in this regard:

The ratchet switch on both of the included ratchets has a movement which feels too loose and of relatively low precision. Only time will tell if there will be problems with this component. It seems to function perfectly, and I like the throw of the ratchet mechanism. I am willing to accept this in view of the other positive features of the tools, and their overall good quality. But, this component could use attention to improve the quality feel.

The other point I would make is with regard to presentation of the product. When I first opened the plastic case, and first laid eyes on the tools, they appeared used. I expected to find a tray of shiny new sockets and components.
