Performs as expected,

I chose the ¼-inch drive because I do most of the work on my car with ¼-inch drive sockets as opposed to 3/8-inch drive sockets. I figured I could always use an adapter to step it up to 3/8-inch drive when occasionally needed. The upper limit setting is also high enough for a lot of my work. The wrench came with test information at various torque levels documenting the accuracy of the torque settings.
I used this wrench to install the oil screen on my Porsche 356. This screen must be installed by progressively torquing ten nuts in a prescribed pattern. With the torque wrench I was able to do this reliably by setting the wrench at its lowest setting (30-inch lbs), tightening all nuts, then setting it to 40-inch lbs, tightening all nuts, etc. The clicking sound the wrench makes when it reaches the selected torque is positive and easy to detect. I cannot comment on the long term durability or accuracy of this wrench since I just purchased it and have used it only once. I first considered a Craftsman torque wrench but changed my mind after reading negative reviews. I know a professional mechanic that likes the GearWrench ratcheting box wrenches, so I purchased this GearWrench product assuming the quality would be comparable. I think it is made in the U.S. while other GearWrench products are made in China. GearWrench products are sold by Sears (and others) which means they are at least endorsed by Sears. I am totally satisfied with this product but gave it four stars since I don't know how durable it is.

I own a paintball shop and this wrench is perfect for the work I have to do on high pressure air tanks. No more guessing if the fitting is at the right torque. It is clearly marked and simple to use, the high chrome polish is flawless. This tool is abousolutely wonderful and for the price you can't beat it.
My friend is a mechanic and we tested my wrench with his the results were exactly the same. His cost three times what I paid for this one. Of course he explained that he had a lifetime warranty on his. Well I will be able to purchase three of these to his one. I have dealt with the company he deals with and I can tell you if you don't buy thousands of diollars of tools a year from these guys that warranty is a myth.

Ordered this from Amazon-ToolTopia after reading reviews. Also came with a 1/4" drive ratchet, dont know if it was a mistake in the order or a freebee. Was gonna order cheaper ($20) imported wrench from amazon but shied away from them. I don't have a calibrator so I cant test its accuracy.
It works ok, problems I have are: 1- you can barely read the engravings so settings require using a magnifier everytime to change settings. Much harder to see if its brightly lit out (fluorescent or sunlight). I tried to wipe on some black paint to fill in engravings but they are too light for any kind of paint or nail polish to hold. If the graduations were engraved alot deeper or more visible, It would've earned another star. Now a magnifying glass has to accompany this wrench everywhere it goes. 2- the "free" ratchet that came in the order has a better ratchet head, alot less play, feels like an SK. Both items are from GearWrench. If the torque wrench had the same head as the ratchet, it would've earned another star. BTW, the torque wrench is stamped "Made In USA" while the better feeling ratchet; "Made in Taiwan" Hmmmm...something is wrong here.

I've used this item multiple times on my KLR650. It is a quality product and worth the money. The numbers are small but still easy to read (unlike the cheaper HF torque wrenches that appear blurry).

I've used this wrench on the car, motorcycles, and some gunsmith jobs and it has proven quite capable every time. I've had the opportunity to check the accuracy with calibrated equipment and it is holding true.

This is great little wrench. Was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but I am really happy with how accurate and well made it is. I used on my motorcycle for inch pound type screws and bolts. It's a gotta have if you don't want to strip or overtighten anything. Glad I paid extra. Well worth the money.

Several months ago I bought one of the moderate priced torque wrenches to work on my new carbon fiber bike. Using proper torque is critically important for such an animal: too loose and serious safety issues can arise; too hard and you crush the fiber. Doing it the "old fashioned way" is risky because the traditional, "old fashioned" feel of steel on steel doesn't work. So a torque wrench is an essential tool. From the get-go the original wrench had a bit of a flimsy feel to it: the 1/4 head was a bit loose and wobbled. While that didn't seem to cause substantive difficulties, it was off putting and signaled a lack of quality. On the second or third outing for the wrench I was tightening a part and thought that I was going way beyond what I expected. I stopped and tested the wrench and, sure enough, it had simply stopped working without notice. I damaged the part, but happily it was not a critical or sensitive one. As it was, the wrench was useless. I think what happened was that I had loosened the adjusting barrel to a bit below zero and that disabled the whole thing. I was able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again, but I really didn't trust it after that experience. So I sprang for the GearWrench, largely based on its solid recommendations. What a delight it has been. It has a solid, quality feel. It is straightforward and precise to adjust, and its snapping point has been easy to determine even at low torques -- the sound is not loud, but the tactile feel is solid. The size and weight of the 1/4 drive is also far better than the lesser wrench. The handle is a comfortable rubber and is compact as is fitting with the size of the drive. As is so often the case, you get what you pay for.

I purchased the GearWrench 1/4 inch drive Torque Wrench to tighten the small bolts on the oil pan on my Honda car when I replaced the gasket. I like the way it adjusts and locks the adjustment in place. The adjustment markings are kind of hard to see, but I didn't have any problem as long as I was in good lighting when I adjusted it. It adjusts like a micrometer, so if you are not familiar with micrometers you will need to read the instructions. I like the fact that it is built in the USA, and it is well built.

This is a Christmas gift for our youngest son. After reading the other reviews and along with GearWrench's lifetime warranty, I was sold. Most vehicles built today have a lot of aluminum components that are torque critical so I feel he will use this a lot.

This wrench seems to be a pretty good value for the money. I used it all day yesterday with no problems. I have yet to compare it to a known good wrench, or run a calibration test on it, but from past experience I can tell that it's not far off, if at all. The dial markings are indeed a little small, but it's a small wrench. In good light, they are easy enough to see. As some other reviewers have mentioned, the gearing in the head could be a little tighter, but it was certainly tight enough to suit me. It's pretty expensive for a small torque wrench, but it's a far cry better than most of the imported junk I've seen for less money. You get what you pay for when in comes to tools ...
