From the Manufacturer
GearWrench introduced the original patented five-degree ratcheting wrench in 1996. The innovation didn’t stop there. Year after year, the GearWrench brand continues to expand its line—in ratcheting tools and beyond!
Pass Through Socket System
The pass through sockets from GearWrench works even where deep sockets won't -- so you don't need two sets of sockets any more. Each pass-through socket replaces one deep and standard socket, and the pass-through system works over long threaded rod where normal ratchets and sockets won't fit.
The special GearRatchet handles are up to 50% thinner than conventional ratchet systems allowing the user to get more access to hard to reach places. The included adapters allows you to also work with any standard square drive sockets ensuring maximum versatility.
Get enhanced productivity from the GearWrench standard 5° Ratcheting arc vs. 2º on conventional ratchets. Strength is also improved by up to 40% by elimination of the tang from the drive system.

For 1/4" drive they are really nice.
They are easy to use.
Take up less space/weight.
Case looks good, is durable and latches good.
Sizes are too hard to read. They don't have as much surface area as most sockets, so the writing is very very very... small.
Major bummer - the box sucks for functionality. I am all about tool control and this box is frustrating. The box is made of hard plastic and the sockets sit loosely. If you bump the box, tools fly out everywhere. If you do not open it flat, they fly out. If you set it down open, they fly out. If you sneeze near them, chances are one will fly out. Worst case I have ever seen. The first few times I responded to a crisis in the plant, I spent as much time digging through fish guts to find my sockets as I did working. After a couple of hard lessons, I smartened up. But my workers didn't. Each time they try to help me, we are digging through fish guts looking for sockets....
If you can get past the crummy box and tiny labeling, they are a good set
After having this set for s few years now, I couldnt imagine working without one. I must have for any toolbox! (Also consider the set that has 1/4" pass-thru drive as well as the 3/8" which is also available on Amazon.com).
Most of my tools are high end (Snap-on, Proto, Mac and Craftsman). When Gearwrench came out with their ratcheting wrenches, I fell in love. I snatched up the first set I saw in metric and SAE for $15 per set. I think they are the best investment for the dollar I've ever made in tools. I also have a few Gearwrench ratchets which are really awesome as well. So naturally I thought these would be as good as the other Gearwrench products I purchased, and boy was I wrong.
They are easy to use.
They look cool.
Functionality is good for light jobs.
Case looks cool.
Great for all-thread with standard nuts.
* THESE DO NOT REPLACE DEEP WELL SOCKETS! The diameter of the shaft hole is too small when working with narrow walled or undersized nuts. They will work with about 90% of the bolts, but not narrow walled or undersized nuts. A lot of precision equipment use this type of nut, and the nuts outside diameter is closer to the diameter of the bolt. For this type of nut these sockets are useless as a deep well. The bolt or all-thread will not pass through.
* Absolutely useless on bent bolts. Found myself having to use a deep well set or wrenches each time the bolt was bent on the non-grabbing side of the nut.
* Sizes are too hard to read. They don't have as much surface area as most sockets, so the writing is very very very... small.Read more ›
This ratchet was able to fit into places a standard ratchet would not and I was able to remove the nut on top of the strut with this ratchet while I passed a Allen key though the center to keep the strut shaft from spinning.
Quality seems good, didn't have any rounded edges ofter using them all weekend on suspension components which require a good amount of force to break free.
For the price everyone should have this kit in the garage.
