One of the previous customer reviews accurately points out that this Limited Edition strategy guide is *not* leather bound. I am a Title Manager for BradyGames Publishing, and I worked on this Gears of War strategy guide. Adding "Leather Bound" to the description is a mistake on the part of Amazon. We are currently trying to get this item description corrected. It was never our intention to falsely advertise this product. We don't make any claim of a leather binding anywhere on the product itself, nor did we ever instruct Amazon to list this product as having a leather binding. I'd like to apologize to anyone who purchased this guide with the expectation that it had a leather binding. We know that misrepresenting our products only creates ill will amongst our customers. I personally apologize for this misunderstanding, and I hope to get this problem rectified as quickly as possible.

I don't buy 'Strategy Guides' or as I call them- cheat books. But I was really looking forward to 'swag'ing up anything I could get for Gears. The Guide packaging caught my eye and I'd heard good things from the web. Well, let me tell EVERYONE- this is a GREAT- GREAT addition to the Gears of War collection! The inside of the packaging is all glossy photos with each book locked in place. Yes- EACH BOOK. On the right is a glossy- illustrated in amazing detail - walkthrough of the game. Inside are amazing stats on weapons and characters as well as the games many secrets (most of which I skipped over as not to ruin my experience) but the best surprise was the book on the left!

On the other side of the collection is a BRILLIANT and HUGE art book! I think it's around 70 pages (I'm sure it's listed somewhere), and each page is a hi gloss amazing image from the game! The concept paintings- the character meshes- the vehicles... even the renders of the game!! I had no idea this was in the package, but now that I know-- the art book alone is worth the money.

All in all- this is a MUST BUY for any Gears of War fan- whether they use Guides or Not.

I too ordered this guide expecting it to be "leather bound" and was hoping that it would have an embossed leather cover/jacket/binding. I was very disappointed when I found that not to be the case. However, I think it's a great guide overall and appreciate Tim Fitzpatrick commenting on the fact that Brady Games did not intend to have Amazon sell this item featuring a leather binding. I'm over the initial disappointment and see that Amazon is no longer advertising the "leather bound special collector's edition."

BradyGames always makes superior guides and I will keep this one since it is well put together with loads of deatailed pictures and information. The pictures in the guiide show great detail and the maps are invaluable to have while playing the game. As a collector's item, the art book is nice but may not be worth the extra money for most gamers. you may want to just stick with the strategy guide by itself (non-collector's edition).

Awsome art work! I'll base a Warhammer 40k Space Marine army off these Gears! This is the book to get great pics on armour and weapons! Great art book & sci fi fan collectors book!

Most people will say that they're online walkthroughs and guides for games but this in it of itself is an extremely helpful and useful book that give very nice information on the game and how to pass by it.

In general it IS just another Strategy Guide but Bradygames does SG's right. They include a lot of things, even the little tidbits of info, to help make the gaming experience for Gears of War even better.

BUT, what makes this a really 5-star item is the art book that comes with it. It is an amazing collection of concept art, history, interviews, facts. If you enjoy the Gears series and are trying to collect a lot of Gears merchandise, this you cannot miss on!

LDB gives this product 5 out of 5! For it's very detailed walkthroughs (both Co-op and Single player campaign.) details on weaponry, enemies, and their stats. For it's very well designed pages that make you keep reading even if your not playing. And the biggest sell, the art book.

Highly recommended.

While this is a game that you can finish without a guide, you'll benefit from the assistance this guide provides when looking for the sometimes elusive COG tags. But for the me the real bonus was the quality artwork that was featured in both the strategy guide and the absolutely gorgeous artbook that is included in this limited edition.

If you appreciate quality artwork, either hand drawn or computer animated you owe it to yourself to pick up this edition. 5 stars just aren't enough to rate the quality. nuff said :)

I just recieved my Guide today...first thought was sweet but then I look at it up close and first thing I noticed is where is the Leather? The guides binding appears to be just thick paper surrounding 2 inner Books. I must say the "Leather Bound" was the thing that sent me in the direction of actually purchasing this guide. I was hoping for a 3d textured Leather Cover but instead its nothing like that. I dont know if I should even keep it..I want to but I really want to know why the false advertising of "Leather Bound" or if I perhaps am missing something.

I'd like to tell my thoughts on the actual contents but at first glance im really confused why there is no Leather Binding...basically this is just a strategy guide and a art book...the "Leather Bound" really made it sound super exclusive and special. I must say im rather dissapointed but at least the game is Fantastic.
