For anyone potentially purchasing this CD, ask yourself something:Do you like the music in Gears of War 3? If the answer is "yes," then you can stop reading and just make the purchase. Every musical piece you hear in the game is heard here. If you haven't played Gears 3 but have played Gears 2 and enjoyed the music, buy this. It retains the focus and instrumentation of Gears 2 (and the original) and stands tall when compared to the previous soundtracks. In terms of what you are given, you are given all of the tracks, 31 to be exact, in CD quality audio. The booklet included with the CD is pretty limited, basically listing credits and song titles and nothing more, which is unfortunate but as nothing extra, like interviews with Steve Jablonsky the composer, was included in the first two CD releases there wasn't any reason to believe there would be anything included with this release either. It is still disappointing though. If you haven't played any of the Gears of War games, you may still enjoy this release. It is a full orchestra performing the music with nothing synthetic included. So even though you might not be a Gears fan specifically, there is still music for a fan of classical style music to enjoy. If you aren't sure you'll enjoy it, check out the free samples from the MP3 version of the album which is found here: Gears Of War 3 "The Soundtrack" For those of you trying to save a few dollars and/or don't want or have to have the physical media, you can also purchase the MP3 version of the album for roughly $8 (that's the price as of today, 9/21/2011) which is about $5 cheaper than the current CD price of $13. Over all the music is a great addition to the game but also sounds quite stunning when listened to on its own.

'Gears Keep Turning' and 'Finally A Tomorrow' are the best songs on this album. I love how they've added in a choir to work in with the deep sounding movie style of the orchestra. Gives the few songs they appear in an epic kind of feel. Each Gears of War Soundtrack has been really good and like with each game they've merely improved them. This one was brilliant! I highly recommend it to any Gears fan interested in this type of music. It fitted the events of Gears 3 perfectly.

I have all the other Gears of War scores, and this one is right up there with the other 2. Perfect balance makes you feel the game play and storyline as you listen. I recommend it to everyone who loves this type of music you won't be disappointed. Gears of War is seriously Epic.

Everything I Loved About The 2nd Score But Not Much Expansion,

This review is from: Gears Of War 3 The Soundtrack (Audio CD)
Steve Jablonsky returns to the franchise with this hard-hitting action score. Jablonsky's first outing with Gears Of War was with the second game when the developers decided to seek him out. It was clear that they were after a "Transformers" sound for the game and that's exactly what Jablonsky delivered. The score ended up being really successful. The music gave a grand scope to what was a grand scope game. Jablonsky now tries to replicate the success he had before and expand on it.If you are looking for the same epic goodness that Jablonsky delivered last time then you'll be in luck. The score delivers on that front. The music incorporates lots of techniques and structures that Jablonsky has made his own over his career. Since this is a game score you will have the occasional repetitive looping tracks, but the way the album is compiled it really strives to give you a progressive listening experience. Now, we do get a lot of score on this CD. With almost 80 minutes of music we get a pretty decent representation, but after sitting through the experience I found it hard to distinguish tracks from one another. The experience did become sort of one mushed together jumble. I also felt much less dramatic building this time around, and once I finished the CD I felt like I wanted more. The overall experience though is a worthwhile one. While I really loved Jablonsky's last score I was hoping he would have done a little more expanding for this outing. We get a lot of the same and the score itself is void of the thematically driven tracks that the second game had. The score is very good and considering the game it fits like a glove, but once the CD ends you may find yourself lacking any lasting effect from the score.

This soundtrack is awesomely daunting! Excellent balance of percussion, strings and vocals. Wonderful experience. Couldn't wait till this album came out and Steve certainly does not disappoint.

This sound track is amazing. I have a 5.1 Home theater system and when i play the last song on here "Finally a Tomorrow", It just puts you in the game. Perfect mixture of instruments and vocals. Steve Jablonsky did an amazing job with this sound track. I have Gears 1,2, and 3 Sound tracks and neither one of them disappoints on the quality. But Gears 2 and 3 are great sound tracks. Listening to "Gears keep Turning" while i am writing this review.

Case was a bit cracked. Don't know if this was the factory or deliveries' fault. Fantastic music though, probably the best in the series so far.
