Excellent product, but not HDCP compliant,

I purchased the EXT-DVI-EDID to connect my LCD TV to my computer for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD playback.Unfortunately, this unit is NOT HDCP complaint. This means that if you are planning on watching High Definition content on the TV, Monitor, or projector connected through this device, you WILL NOT be able to. If you do not intend to view any HD video content using this devise, then it will work fine for you. But if you do intend to watch HD content, you will be disappointed. If you require HDCP compliance then look at the EXT-DVI-EDIDP (DVI connection) or EXT-HDMI-EDIDP (HDMI connection)

Works great in our professional Aerospace application.I use it with a KVM switch to share one monitor between multiple computers, and this little "gem" spoofs the NVidia drivers on each computer into thinking the main monitor is always hooked up, and therefore doesn't lamely try to "configure the main display out" in lieu of our TV-OUT simulator displays at bootup (a situation which would cause more problems than one can imagine). This product is a real "design saver".

What's there not to like? It does exactly what it claims to do. Vista now stores the information on my TV (as a dual monitor) even after it is turned off or the input is switched. Amazing. It literally took me about a minute total to set it up.1. Plug in the DVI Detector to an outlet. (10 seconds) 2. Connect your DVI cable from your monitor to the DVI Detector (10 seconds) 3. Turn on your Monitor. (3 seconds) 4. Push the program button on the DVI Detector. (3 seconds) 5. Unplug the DVI Detector from the outlet and store it away. (5 seconds) 6. Connect the the small DVI Cable that comes with it from the detector to the PC. (10 seconds) Done. 41 seconds later, my computer detected the monitor...and was now tricked into thinking my monitor was always on, and never losing the dual screen. No longer do I have to redo the whole dual monitor process, making me a very happy customer! :-)

I use an XP with dual monitors and MAC machine. I also have the Geffen DVI switcher. Before getting this, everytime I booted the XP, I had to reconfigure my dual monitors, which was time consuming and a pain.Works great. |
