Product Description

Analog Geiger Counters are useful for detecting radioactivity and performing nuclear experiments. The model GCK-01A is an assembled and tested kit. These Geiger Counters primary indicators are an audio click and an LED blink each time a radioactive particle is detected. Count Rate VS Dose Rate chart on front of counter provides an indication of radiation based on clicks per second. The model GCK-01A has an external wand that houses Geiger-Mueller tube (GMT-01) and provides a easy to use probe for checking radioactivity. The GM Tube is a Ne + Halogen filled It detects the following radiation: Beta above 36 KeV; Gamma above 7 KeV. Headphone / Analog Meter Jack Digital Output -- The digital output jack provides a TTL logic high pulse each time a radioactive particle is detected. The digital output may be interfaced to a Personal computer (PC) or a microprocessor. Compatible with Images SI Inc.'s DMAD adaptors for PC. External Power Jack

This Geiger Counter GCK-01 Kit came from Images SI, Inc. with missing resisters and wrong diodes mislabeled. The instruction booklet is poorly written for a beginner. The company did not respond to my requests for the missing resistors. Unfortunately I soldered in the wrong mislabeled IN4007 1 KV diodes where the zenner diodes were supposed to go and consequently may have ruined the PCB. I do not recommend this kit unless you are expierenced in building circuit boards and are willing to buy the correct resistors and zener diodes locally. I ordered directly from the company and they were one month late in their promised delivery date.

This Geiger Counter is a great value. I have used many Geiger Counters for various projects, and I have to say that none have beaten the value of this Geiger counter. This Geiger Counter is accurate, reliable and durable. It performs better than similar products costing more. It is easy to use, even for a novice like myself, and yet it offers many useful tools like a digital meter adapter. The wand makes it easy to test objects, or hard to reach, items.

I highly recommend this product.
