I have the leather case for my Kindle, but I don't always use it because it adds weight and bulk. This protective skin is perfect; protects from scratches and fingerprints and- if it weren't for the colorful pattern, it would completely disappear from my notice. Also, it was very easy to get on properly and bubble free. I like it so much, I think I might buy one for my iPod, now.

I ordered this GelaSkin although other viewers warned it was not for both sides -- perhaps the manufacturer listened because mine was. This feature is great because not only does it protect the backside, but it also covers the front: the white parts around my screen as well as the hot keys on the right will stay nice and clean...this was fabulous because i noticed on a friend's older Kindle that the white of her keys was getting grey and muddy with use...(although it does not protect the letters - just the hot keys like 'home', 'next page', 'back', etc.

By design, this product doesn't offer much in terms of protection, aside from scratches. But it is understood that this wouldn't help if you ever dropped it or the like--it isn't that kind of product. But this product is beautiful...that much is certain. I was so excited to apply it to my KindleDX - it really made me feel like I was personalizing my KDX....there ought to be more designs available, for the KDX at this point there are only three available which really isn't much in terms of selection.

In terms of construction, the skin is sturdy - because of its innate stickiness I was able to remove and re-apply it without worrying about ripping it or loss of stickiness (I did however, make sure to put it on in a dust-free, pet hair-free zone) and was able to get it 'just right'. Buyer beware though, that getting it affixed in that perfect spot may take a minute or two - when you take the skin off the wax paper it can curl into itself like any other regular (albeit strong adhesive) sticker. i found that i could fix and re-fix away, and just as it found its correct resting place that fit like a glove--that's when i couldn't find a spot to lift it off the KDX to readjust without possibly leaving a slight dent in the skin.

I bought this thinking it was a full cover for the kindle and instead it just covers the front and back, not the sides; its not a skin but a latex-like cover. I feel Amazon is doing an injustice to its customers because the name of this product really does not reflect what it actually is. With that said I kind of like it because the oils from my finger(s) was discoloring the white of the kindle buttons...I read a lot. So I'm happy that it does provide protection from that. The design is really nice and I would purchase other "skins" if they came out with others but not at the price they are currently charging because I feel the price is inflated based on the product itself. These things should be no more than $10, definitely not $20.

Although this item is pretty it has absolutely no gel in it. It seems to be just contact paper, cut badly. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because it was pretty. Only protection would be from scratches on the back and metal front and if you are button dependent and put the little button stickers on good luck finding them. They blend right in.

This gel skin is not only pretty, but feels great and the application was so easy. It fit the kindle dx perfectly.

I was very pleased with the quality and beauty of this product. It is great for keeping my Kindle from being accidentally scratched but will probably not do too much if the Kindle is dropped. If you take your Kindle everywhere with you I would suggest also getting a leather carrying case for it to protect from accidental bumps and drops!

I ordered this gelaskin because I love Van Gogh. I put the plastic hardcover over the gel and constantly get compliments of how pretty my Kindle looks. Thanks!

While protecting my new Kindle from any kind of surface scratches, I find the art adds to the reading ambiance! I coupled it with the brown leather cover and it becomes the "tree of knowledge." I read some of the reviews and suggestions for applying it and found it quite easy. My suggestion is to go slow and start from the bottom up!

I love my GelaSkin! The soft yellow background and delightful flowers always make me smile when I pick up my Kindle for even a couple of minute of reading. I much prefer the warm feel of the skin to the actual Kindle. It was very easy to apply and I am currently deciding on which design GelaSkin I want for my laptop. Gets lots of admiration and inquiries from other Kindle users.

Does a great job of hiding finger prints. Nice color goes well with my Tumi cover. However, I found it impossible to get front cover on smoothly.
