Software and sound issues....

The mention of a lack of operating instructions is minimal to me. I was able to get the turntable set up quickly. What I require is some tech support to get software to operate. I have yet to get this thing to make a audible noise. I can see that the Audacity window is working as the meter bars are moving while I play a record.
Going to my computer's control panel I tried to work with the 'Sounds and Audio Devices' to no avail. I have printed up the operating instructions and have only become more confused. I am not that dumb, but jeez, I really wanted to get this product up and running. It has yet to happen.
Calling Gemsound directly has yet to fix this problem. The department that should help with support was not there (Chrismas vacation?) and I was able to talk to another person. Essentially I was told that I need to play around with my programming. I wanted someone to talk me through this.
This is frustrating.
As for the turntable itself, this machine is exactly what I am looking for. I believe that the other reviews are true about the abilities of this device. There seems to be many plusses for it compared to other products. A dust cover would be nice.
What is funny is that tonight, 60 Minutes is showing a repeat of their story on the Geek Squad. I hate to think that I would have to call and pay a outside source to come over and probably spend 15 minutes to get this whole system operating.
I would rate this product -much- higher if I was able to get it to work straight from the box.
