4.0 out of 5 stars A modern Polish rock classic, March 30, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Gemini (Audio CD)
Although she recorded the all-English "Love" first, I consider "Sen" Edyta's first album, because it is mostly in her native language (as a rule, Polish musicians are better when they sing in Polish). "Dziecko" and "Wodospady" are more consistently excellent albums, but "Sen" will always be one of my favorite Polish albums (and has been since 1994). Edyta's singing is impassioned and her lyrics complex and intelligent. Here she ranges from the half-acoustic title track to blazing rock tunes like "Walczyk" or her cover of Janis Joplin's "Move Over." While Poland may boast some technically better singers, Edyta is one of the overall best rock singer-songwriters from this musically-gifted country. Edyta deserved the Frederyki (Polish grammies, named for Frederyk Chopin) she won for this album! A must buy!
