An excellent book, highly, highly recommended. There's so much we don't know! This book helps shed some light on the unlikely use of stones as medicine. How cool and weird is that. I've tried it for the last couple of years, and it's shocking how effective they are.

I am a layperson, not a gemstone or energy healer, but have always had a great enjoyment of the minerals of our earth. This book, and others from Michael Katz, have been eye opening and enlightening in my learning of the valuable medicinal work the gemstones can provide.

One of the reviewers below complained about the fact that not all the gemstones of the world are listed in this book. For that, there are Crystal Bibles, and indexes, and Melody books etc. Go there if you need to know about them all. This book is not meant to list all the gemstones there are, and doesn't profess to be an encylopedia of minerals. The gemstones, earthstones, riverstones, and oceanstones written about in this book are ones that have been specifically geared and guided to us as the most useful at this time. The gemstones listed in this book have the ability to give us the greatest amount of assistance at this point in our history. And they do.

Read the book if you are interested in the magic that lies within you, and a gemstone's ability to assist you on your path. This book is really for people who would like to grow spiritually, and to grow on their path of healing the physical, emotional and mental bodies. If you want to increase your consciousness, if you want to heal, if you want to become more aware of and help to enlighten and vitalize your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies, you will find much of use in this book. When you use the gemstones by applying the wisdom in this book, you will be surprised and amazed that gemstones have the ability to assist us in changing conditions within ourselves. A+++++!!!

Finally, a book on the therapeutic uses of gemstones that even skeptics can take seriously! I've been a fan of Michael Katz's books for years, and this is his very best. In my long search for meaningful information on gemstones, I've read a fair number of books, most of which have been disappointing. Katz's books never disappoint, and this one is no exception.

Katz provides the first coherent explanation of how and why gemstones can be used as serious tools of energy medicine. He also gives a convincing argument for using gems shaped into spheres. The detailed instructions on how to perform specific therapies go far beyond the usual "put a stone on your brow chakra" vagueness I've found elsewhere. Very impressive.

I've read almost the entire book and found it well-written, user-friendly, and beautifully illustrated (the photographs alone are worth the price). All in all, it's a fascinating, lively read for both the at-home user and the healthcare pro -- a true breakthrough book. I recommend it to anyone who has any interest whatsoever in energy medicine and in gems in particular.

I have been interested in gemstone energy for several years, and this book is appropriate both for someone just beginning to learn about the subject, and for a person who is more familiar with how gemstone healing works. The photographs are gorgeous, and really provide you with a sense of the different types of gems.

The information is presented in a clear, easy-to-understand format, and it is very well-written. If you are interested in working on a certain physical condition (or emotional/psychological issue), this book gives you advice on how to proceed, and which gemstones most benefit a particular problem. It also gives very detailed descriptions of the function of each gem.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in gemstones or other energy-healing subjects. It's perfect for dipping into a bit at a time, or for reading straight through. Educational and inspirational reading!

This book is quickly becoming my daily reference. The information is clear and concise; the therapies are simple, powerful, and safe. After 10 years of having worked with Gemisphere gemstone necklaces and therapy tools, I am amazed by the strength and effectiveness of these new ways that I'm learning to use them through this book. Lay people with a clear intention for self-healing and a bit of guidance from a gemstone healer or a Gemisphere consultant can perform these therapies at home and expect to experience profound results.

Gemstone Energy Medicine - Healing Body, Mind and Spirit, has proven to be a valuable resource in using gemstones for myself and with my clients. I especially appreciate the in-depth Quick Reference Guide for Common Conditions and Therapeutic Gems - which is a resource unlike any other. The book is user-friendly, beautiful and all-encompassing.

Great infomation about Gems he does discuss, however M. Katz leaves out many healing stones. Also, I disagree that you have to buy His necklaces to have "real healing". People ill with cancer and other serious illnesses im sure do not have the money to buy his most excellent quality necklaces. When a person is really ill, they are not working, so it would be hard, unless you have lots of money aside to purchase these "theraputic gems necklaces".
I have worked with reiki and with stones and oils. I have seen marvelous healings done with a regular ROCK. I think hes fattening his wallet. Period.

This is a visually stunning book, a good addition to the library of those curious about gemstone healing (like myself) or for the very serious about the subject. This book does leave out a few commons stones/crystals, so I'd reccommend getting an accompanying book that includes all. This book is a very practical, easy to read, easy to follow "how to guide" for using therapeutic gemstones on the body for healing. As a Reiki Master / Polarity Therapist, it's important for me to use the highest vibrational tools available and in a manner consistent with healing. The first few chapters explain why spheres are the best choice for therapeutic purposes, rather than wands or other shaped gemstones. Very enlightening, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to take their use of gems to a higher level.

This volume is an invaluable compendium of the therapeutic nature and applications of a number of naturally occurring precious and semi-precious gemstones. The author's unique approach to gems as therapeutic tools is fascinating. It is written to be understood by the lay reader, and it is thick with material that I imagine someone more experienced in natural healing methods would find useful. After his explanation of how and why certain gemstones have their beneficial effect on us, this book takes on the character of a technical manual--full of characteristics and application techniques for approximately 30 gemstones. The book itself is beautifully produced with stunning photographs of the gemstones discussed. The book also has an easy guide to help the reader choose which gems to begin working with based on which health issues the reader would like to address. I heartily recommend this book to anyone with an interest in this fascinating approach to healing.

I was dissapointed with this book. It lacks ANY information about many common gems, including jade, obsidian, black tourmaline, moonstone, etc. This is a "glossy" book designed to attract the new age crowd who may just have a passing interest and want a VERY basic introduction. However, for anyone who is serious about gem and energy medicine, especially naturopaths or others interested in making gem elixers, I would NOT recommend this book. It simply lacks enough complete information.
