1.0 out of 5 stars Go for the original December 8, 2011
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
If you want a cheap alternative to a gamecube controller that will only last about a month, you're in luck. If you want one that will last longer than that, however, this is not for you.

Mine started going wonky by periodically shocking me. At first I thought it was just static electricity but it soon became clear that it was, in fact, the controller. Either that or I have the amazing ability to create enough charge to set off seven or eight shocks in a matter of fifteen minutes, but only when holding the controller.

I must be a stubborn cuss, because I kept using it until it suddenly lost the ability to turn left. At that point it became kind of a challenge to see if I could play my game with no left turns. I was just starting to become impressed with my ingenuity when the right turn ability gave out as well. It is now literally impossible to use it to play my game. Plus I'm really sick of getting shocked.

So there you have it from the ultimate cheapo-- I've given this thing every shot you could ask for and it's plain old not worth it no matter how cheap you are. You would be far better off buying a used controller actually made by Nintendo than a brand new one of these. Avoid a waste of money and steady stream of electrical shocks-buy the original.

2.0 out of 5 stars ZERO quality control. August 9, 2013

Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
This controller looks like a Gamecube controller at first glance, but that's where similarities end. A potato with a string might have a better chance of working right than this thing.

Quality control is non existent with this product. Seams in the plastic don't line up quite right and irritate hands. Camera stick nub cover is glued on crooked and hangs over with a rubber lip. D-pad only works on up and left whereas down and right require about 10x the normal force to get the button to register. Trigger action is stiff and creaky. Analog stick feels a little off but I can't be sure without a good side by side. Analog stick rubber cover had left over casting from the mold and would interfere with stick when pushing one direction until I trimmed it with a knife.

At least the buttons feel somewhat correct.

It's BARELY passable for a controller for say an RPG but forget about it for action games. Sure it's only 8 bucks any there's no real alternatives, but you'll hate yourself for buying it every time you pick it up and play.

1.0 out of 5 stars Avoid. Not worth the risk. August 21, 2013

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
This isn't the cheapest gamecube controller out there, it's just the next step up, so although it had more than its share of bad reviews, I thought I'd give it a shot since some of the reviews made it sound decent enough. I ordered it new.

Well, the first thing I noticed after taking it out of its brand new clam-shell packaging was that it was scuffed up. Like it had been dropped on a hard surface a few times or kicked. Not a great sign. A worse sign was when I noticed the "C" on the C-Stick was backwards. Somehow, and I cannot imagine how it happened, the C-Stick was installed upside down. You would think the tabs or whatever they used to insert the stick when installing it wouldn't match-up, but obviously it doesn't matter and it passed their "quality control." Second thing I noticed was the shoulder triggers. If you didn't press directly in the center of the trigger, they would go off their tracks (and not register as being pressed, I would find).

When I started up a few games, I discovered more issues. When you pressed any face button it went down with a noticeable (and expected) sound of a button press, but that didn't mean anything. Even though the button would be depressed, you have to press down extra hard for it to register as actually being pressed. Annoying but manageable.

To my surprise both analog sticks seemed to work fine for the games I was trying, where you would press hard in one direction or another to swing the camera around or run. Later I would plug the controller into my computer (with a 3-in-1 usb adapter I already owned), and through my configuration utility I found the upside-down C-Stick had a lean to it.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My review from a few months ago read:
"These are a great price and I bought 2 for my Wii. Both arrived quickly and worked fine."

NOW...one of the controllers won't allow anything to be directed to the left. So, unless you like moving in circles to the right all day, this thing is useless. I just tossed it in the garbage. I might be able to understand if we used it a lot, but my two girls are very gentle with the things and we rarely use the gamecube controllers as they prefer to use the Wii controllers.

Wish I could get my money back for the crappy thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Deal can't be beat! February 2, 2009
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Exactly what we needed. We were trying to play the old gamecube games on our wii with the classic style controller and struggling with it. This combo paddle plugs into the top of the wii and works perfect. The only real flaw is that it's not wireless like the other wii controllers. This is minor, though, and for less than $3 it can't be beat. Also, for those who care, it was black and not purple when it arrived.

With kids nowadays should be stronger in the wiring. But over all it's OK you have to put some glue or silicon where the controller meets the wire and maybe it will last longer.
