4.0 out of 5 stars For a Helluva Good Time!, May 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Gen13 : Netherwar (Paperback)
In a nutshell, this book deals with Gen 13 trying to stop their old time foe Ivana, and her goon squad of keepers, from opening a gateway to Hell in Las Vegas, as if anyone would notice if they did. At 230 pages, the novel is a quick read. At times it makes the novel feel rushed, and it is for this reason only that the book falls short of 5 stars. On the positive side, Golden and Mariotte do a stand out job in handling the regular Gen 13 characters in their first novel. More often than not, I find that comic book characters lose something in the translation from comic to prose. In this novel, all the regulars maintain their traits that their fans have come to know and love. All and all, a very good first outing for the Gen 13. Hopefully this will lead to a series of novels for them in the vein of the Spider Man and X-Men novels. Golden and Mariotte have proven they know the characters in and out, lets see if they can produce a follow up story thats somewhat more complex than this one was.

5.0 out of 5 stars Golden continues to impress, July 17, 2000

Well to be honest, I had never heard of gen13 before, but I have read the mutant empire trilogy from golden. This book showed my who the characters truly are and how they act in real life(excluding the super hero thing).I must say that am truly impressed with the detail and way the book makes you care about the characters, even the icy Ivana Bauil(I don't know why, but you do). I would recomend this book to anyone interested in a good story. And let's hope there are more gen 13 novels coming soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart and Entertaining -- This is a great read!, May 18, 1999
This review is from: Gen13 : Netherwar (Paperback)
It isn't necessary to have ever read a comic book to have a terrific time with this novel. The interaction between the characters is great and the writers have really captured the way a group of young adults talk to each other. The witty dialogue and solid characterization make this the most entertaining book I've read this year.
