Valley of Fire:Gene Autry is the newly elected mayor of a lawless California boomtown in 1850. With the help of his marshal, Gene must then out-gun the nefarious renegades who want to kidnap the brides-to-be for a rival mining camp and take over the town. Mule Train:Marshal Gene Autry cracks the whip on Western killers as he rides Champion to the stirring rhythm of the great song sensation Mule Train! Beyond The Purple Hills:Gene Autry takes over as a two-gun sheriff with Champion as his smartest deputy after bank robbers kill the former sheriff. When Judge Beaumont is murdered, circumstantial evidence points to the judge's wild son as the killer. Gene believes the young man is innocent and helps him battle a lynch mob and apprehend the real killers. Pat Buttram and Little Champ are along for the ride in Gene's hottest action picture!

Indian Territory:Gene Autry discards his conventional cowboy garb and white Stetson for the blue uniform of a sergeant in the post-Civil War Cavalry in this 1950 film. The Apaches have been incited to raid the ranchers and homesteaders on the Western frontier by the Apache Kid and Curt Raidler, a renegade Austrian, who wishes to use the Indians to build himself an empire in America. Gene is assigned to end the rioting and, at the same time, smash the group of gun-runners responsible. Gail Davis and Pat Buttram join in the gun-scorching Autry action.

"BEYOND THE PURPLE HILLS" (Released: 25 July 1950) (70 mins/B&W) --- Under Jon English (Director), our story line and plot, Gene breaks from the realistic formula by introducing Little Champ and having him along with Champion, perform some tricks as both horses have important roles in the story line, including some funny bits with Pat Buttram ----- Gene Autry becomes sheriff of Nortonville after the previous peace keeper is gunned down in a bank robbery --- Gene even though he believes Jack Beaumont (Hugh O'Brian) is innocent of his father's murder must arrest him --- Gene has a few ideas that will bring the real criminals to justice --- Pat Buttram and Gene Autry were very, very dear friends and had a lot of mutual respect for each other --- Gene usually did one take and was very much a professional, and the crew embraced his work ethic - - - - - some wonderful tunes, BEYOND THE PURPLE HILLS (Gene Autry), DEAR HEARTS AND GENTLE PEOPLE (Gene Autry)

"INDIAN TERRITORY" (Released: 30 September 1950) (70 mins/B&W) --- Under Jon English (Director), the story line is excellent with outstanding productions --- meets the challenge which these "singing cowboy" movies face is how the music fits in --- in this case, I would say --- comic relief, which Pat Buttram provides here is simply great --- James Griffith meets the criteria of an "old west" character during the '50s television era --- the plot has Gene helping investigate Indian raids on a supply route --- these renegade Indians are led by a man who's half-white, working for a caucasian Austrian --- meanwhile a cattleman and his daughter encounter difficulties settling in the area --- when it comes to top-notch Autry films this is the place to sit the saddle and ride - - - - some wonderful tunes, CHATTANOOGIE SHOE SHINE BOY (Gene Autry), WHEN THE CAMPFIRE IS LOW ON THE PRAIRIE (Gene Autry), SQUARE DANCE CALLS (Pat Buttram)

Special footnote, Orvon Gene Autry was an American performer who gained fame as The Singing Cowboy on the radio, in movies and on television --- Discovered by film producer Nat Levine in 1934, he and Burnette made their film debut for Mascot Pictures Corp. "In Old Santa Fe" as part of a singing cowboy quartet; he was then given the starring role by Levine in 1935 in the 12-part serial "The Phantom Empire" --- Shortly thereafter, Mascot was absorbed by the formation of Republic Pictures Corp. and Autry went along to make a further 44 films up to 1940, all B westerns in which he played under his own name, rode his horse Champion, had Burnette as his regular sidekick and had many opportunities to sing in each film --- Autry became the top Western star at the box-office by 1937, reaching his national peak of popularity from 1940 to 1942. His Gene Autry Flying "A" Ranch Rodeo show debuted in 1940 --- Gene Autry is the only celebrity to have five stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one in each of the five categories maintained by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce --- Radio, Films, Recordings, Television and Live Theater.
