Gene Pitney Live, December 3, 2006
This review is from: Gene Pitney: It Hurts to Be in Love (DVD)
This dvd might not play in your dvd player unless you hack it using a code you may find online. My version is PAL although Amazon or it's seller advertised it as NTSC.
The program is over one hour long and contains most of Pitney's hits including some songs he wrote for other singers including "Hello Mary Lou" (Rick Nelson), "He's A Rebel" (The Crystals) and "Rubber Ball" (Bobby Vee). His voice is in fine shape and both he and the audience are enjoying the show.
While the year of the concert isn't given, it does take place in his latter years (his hair is gray) and is probably representative of his on stage performances up to the time of his death.
Highly recommended for Gene's fans if they can get this dvd to play in their player.
Songs: Introduction (snippets of his hits from the concert) and then the complete versions of Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa, Last Chance To Turn Around, Backstage, Looking Through The Eyes Of Love, It Hurts To Be In Love, Mecca, If I Didn't Have A Dime, Half Heaven-Half Heartache, I'm Gonna Be Strong, Nobody Needs Your Love, Jamaica Farewell, The Angels Got Together, True Love Never Runs Smooth, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Only Love Can Break A Heart, I Must Be Seeing Things, I Wanna Love My Life Away, Hello Mary Lou, Rubber Ball, She's A Rebel, Oceans Away, She's A Heartbreaker, Town Without Pity, and Heavenly Stop (Intrumental).

The Late Gene Pitny, February 12, 2007
This review is from: Gene Pitney: It Hurts to Be in Love (DVD)
This DVD is a great sample of his DINNER SHOWS later in his life.
Just to beable to see this master perform was a treat.
Picture and Sound was fine. And Gene Pitney covers all his big hits fine.
Only Two draw backs
1. The DVD has a Region encoding hold and would not play on my home unit but play fine on both my laptop and my portable player.
2. I wish the show had be taped closer to Gene Pitney's Prime
It is like see Paul Anka or Barry Manilow today.
But after all said if you liked his songs you'll enjoy this DVD

Gene Pitney In Concert, April 14, 2011
This review is from: Gene Pitney: It Hurts to Be in Love (DVD)
A fabulous DVD even if I can only watch it on my computer as it is in PAL format. He does a fabulous job even though it was later in his life when it was taped. He didn't change his songs around like a lot of older performers unfortunately do. His voice is still good and strong on the DVD and I would recommend it to anyone who was a fan of Gene's.
What a sad loss it was when he died, I wish we could get more DVD's of his.
