First off, if you like exotic peripherals for your rhythm game experience then it doesn't get any better than this guitar. It's a signed version of Gene Simmons' guitar shaped like an axe...how awesome is that?!

Now let me tell you all the truth...after Rock Band came out for the Wii, Nintendo forced Harmonix and Activision to play nice and make controllers that worked for both games. As such, this guitar works for all Harmonix games that came out after Rock Band Wii. It works just fine with Rock Band 2 as well as the AC/DC track pack. In addition, it will work with Track Pack Vol 2; 1 I'm not so sure about.

Anywho, for all the people that bought this as a Christmas gift and then complained that it doesn't work with Rock Band, instead of whining, go out and buy Rock Band 2.

The guitar plays wel and is actually the closest in size to a real guitar. An excellent buy overall.

Absolutely not compatible with Rock Band. Misrepresented on web page. No mention that later models will be compatible with Rock Band. Why would anyone buy this if they knew it was only compatible with Guitar Hero and if they wait a couple of months they can purchase the same product for the same price that is compatible with both? Shame on both Amazon and the manufacturer for their deceit.

EDIT ADDED: Checked back on this page on Jan 3 and the description has been edited to say that it is compatible with Guitar Hero - the Rock Band part has been removed. That is good for anyone considering buying this item but it makes it seem as if those of us who bought this thinking it was compatible with Rock Band did not read the description at all. I assure you that when I bought the item and when I wrote my original review the page said "Compatible with Guitar Hero and Rock Band." I printed out the page for my records in case I needed to return the item. As it turns out I am not returning it because my wife is thrilled with it anyway and wants to keep it but I had to go out and buy another guitar for Rock Band so they can play 2 player.

i dont usaly leave reviews but after reading the previous reviwes on the bass i felt compeled to leave one of my own. this bass for wii rockband 2 is amazing. i found it to be easyer to use and more responsive than the guitar that comes with the rockband 2 kit. the controler that you put in t0 the body of the base is kind of odd looking but just get a black controler from a knock off wii compainy as i did or wait till xmas and get the officail black controler and it will not only look great but it will play great too. in a word this guitar/bass is amazing!

I received this as a Christmas Present along with both Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3. The Guitar does not work with Rock Band as Amazon and the website for the unit describes. On another note, the guitar strap needs tweaking as it was difficult to get it on the nut and I ended up stretching it out of shape an had to use a guitar strap that I had. On a Positive note It is a cool replica of the famous AXE, It feels good to hold and is balanced well.

Terribly disappointing. Gave this as a Christmas gift ONLY because Amazon stated that it's compatible with BOTH GuitarHero AND ROCK BAND. Realized that it is indeed NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ROCK BAND after the gift was opened. Very disappointed, and upset with Amazon for misleading customers. Will return the item ASAP.

When the guitar, which is just as descibed, arrives, you will find that the box and all info inside says" compatible with Guitar Hero". As I did some research, the Rock Band version will come out on 1/31/09..........BEWARE.........NOT FOR ROCK BAND..........so now, I am out a christmas present with no replacement, and out $80 for 4 to 6 weeks!

Sorry Gene, but this thing is crap. I wish I had done more research before making the purchase. It looks cool, was a great idea, but the company that made this should refund everyone there money. If you buy one, the minute you pull it out of the box you'll know you spent way too much on it. It's flimsy plastic and feels like your going to break it if you handle it much. I bought it, and after I had to modify it to meet my needs, this Axe shall hang on the wall in the game room. That's about all that can be said, buy one for yourself, you will see, you'll say @#$% I should listened to that guy.

Received this product with the expectation of actually using it as an extra guitar for rock band 2. When I opened the box, realized that it was one that had already been returned to Amazon. That should have been my first clue. Took the product out of the box, and was really dismayed at the lack of any quality. The outside shell of the guitar was cheap. The buttons were noisy and hard to push. This is truly a piece of junk. Do not buy unless you want to hang it on your wall.

it wasn't as cool as it looks. the strap keeps falling off and the wammy bar is hard to use.

Just like the other reviews said, this guitar is NOT compatible with ROCK BAND as the description states. I felt like a fool. I was so excited. My son was so excited. And now we are both terribly disappointed!
