R.I.P. the original Rock and Roller Gene Vincent!!!,
By paul draven (Chico,California u.s.a.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gene Vincent Rocks! And The Blue Caps Roll/Record Date (Audio CD)
Every cut a classic. Every note beautiful. Everything Gene Vincent put out rocks and rolls with a fiery passion that has been unmatched since. Even when the man switched to country tinged rock in the 70's the songs were gut-wrenchingly filled with pain and passion. Elvis was King but Gene Vincent was a God!

Gene Rocks!,
By Martin 13 (Slovenia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Gene Vincent Rocks! And The Blue Caps Roll/Record Date (Audio CD)
In 1958 Dickie Harrell was the only original member of The Blue Caps, Johnny Meeks was the lead guitarist, Max Lipscomb (aka Scotty McKay) was new rhythm guitarist, Bobby Jones played bass, and former rhythm guitarist Paul Peek (died 3 April 2001)shifted to backing vocals alongside Tommy Facenda (his "High School U.S.A." peaked at number 28 on the Billboard charts in 1959). The records had less frantic sound. But still the albums were great. This collection is featuring two bonus tracks "Be Bop A Lula" and "Race With The Devil".
