In this work, Irish names are linked together in groups which can actually represent different ways of spelling the very same Irish name. Brothers may have spelled the name differently, as did immigration agents, and record takers.
Over 20,000 spellings are cited from the 1800's, and this includes 3,000 variant spelling groups. A master list of all spellings from the 1659 census of Ireland is included as well.
This volume is the second part of the set comprising the 'Master Book of Irish Surnames'. (The first volume to the set is the 'Genealogists guide to finding the locations of Irish names'.)
