I've just had installed the 20kW model. I choose a private electrician which resulted in a couple of hickups. When the Generic trained tech came to do the startup he spotted a couple of problems which could have caused serious proplems if the generator had been allowed to begin powering the house. So my recommendation is to pay a Generac trained tech the high price ($500 approx.) to do the final stage check and startup. I also recommend calling the gas company to install a larger meter. When a power outage was finally simulated, there was only a 10 second delay before the engine began and all the power was back on. While installing a generator in Southern Cal. might seem a bit of overkill, the Governator has just decalared a water emergency. And..no water means no power!

I purchased this unit and had it installed. It has performed as expected. I had to replace the 12V battery, recently, but is normal maintenance.
