4.0 out of 5 stars POWER!
Being only minimally eletrical, I installed this unit with ease. My only problem was the reach of the supplied PBX, but I safely worked around that. Last summer I used the generator with extension cords for power outages - a real pain compared to the transfer station. This fall, when the low has been 8°, I sleep a bit better knowing that I have easy backup power. I...

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT UL LISTED
IT IS VERY HARD TO GET ONE OF THESE INSTALLED BY A CERTIFIED ELECTRICIAN, BECAUSE IT IS NOT UL APPROVED. OH SURE, YOU COULD DO IT YOURSELF ( OR CAN YOU ) BUT WHY NOT GET ONE THAT IS UL LISTED? THERE IS A REASON THAT CODES EXIST. YOUR SAFTY IS AT STAKE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Manual Transfer Switch, February 22, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Generac Portable Products 1276 30 Amp 6 Circuit Power Transfer System (Lawn & Patio)
The transfer switch is the best device to use with a portable generator as a emergency home-back up system. The system is UL 98 approved and allows the customer to use the generator without having to open up windows and run extension cord thru. The unit allows you to monitor your loads when applied to the generator. It allow you to operate 6 circuits in your home, without having the worries of back feeding into the utility lines or hurting the generator with to many appliances hooked up. This gives me a big peace of mind, knowing that my family will not be without power and my portable generator is being used properly.
