5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable talent. Watch out for these guys!
This is the first Pat McGee Band cd I have bought and I must say, it is awesome. I first heard the band on a caompilation cd a friend of mine has. I then went out and bought General Admission. 3.0 out of 5 stars Good...But Nowhere Near Great
As someone who has heard PMB live on numerous occasions, I will say this: General Admission does accurately capture their sound and live playing style. It's entertaining music, and many of the songs will stick in your head. Comparisons with Dave Matthews or other well-known "jam bands" are, however, a bit of a stretch. PMB definitely tries to play with that...

This is the first Pat McGee Band cd I have bought and I must say, it is awesome. I first heard the band on a caompilation cd a friend of mine has. I then went out and bought General Admission. This band has refreshing lyrics and feel good tunes. Whether it's the smooth, relaxing sound of "Nobody Knows" or "Flooding Both of us" or maybe the upbeat jams of songs like "Who Stole Her From Heaven" and "Rebecca." I now understand why this band is experiencing so much success so fast. I just hope they don't get to big too fast, because they are definitely best in that small, intimate, live setting. But mark my word, They will be playing sold out venues like Continental Airlines arena and competing with the likes of Dave Matthews and the rest. Definitely five stars and a must own if you are a fan of acoustic rock with that jam session quality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pat McGee is one of the best bands around......, June 8, 2000

I went to a Pat McGee concert in April, and I've been hooked ever since. I got home, and eagerly tore the shrink wrap off the CD, and popped it in the player. The sound that emerged from the speakers was of pretty good quality, and was almost as good as the concert itself. Pat McGee has a unique sound that is hard to describe, but if you like Dave Matthews, you'll like Pat McGee.

The Pat McGee band consists of six members. It features Pat McGee on vocals and electric and acoustic guitars, Chardy McEwan on percussion, John Small on bass, Jonathan Williams on piano and organ and vocal, and Chris Williams on drums.

The CD starts out with the song "The Story", which is a tune with an upidy beat. The tracks that follow are all equally good, from the soft, slow dancey "Flooding Both of Us", to the upidy beat of "Could Have Been a Song", to the long, mostly instrumental "Rebecca". The recording takes place live at the Birchmire and the Bayou. Pat McGee and the band have done a terrific job producing a wonderful live CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Disk, March 27, 2000
This review is from: General Admission (Audio CD)
What a great album. I picked up Pat McGee Bands Revel by chance and was throughly impressed. I figured I would give the live General Admission a listen. Im Hooked. It is a rare band that can express themselves musically so well in a live setting. If you like Dave Matthews Band, Counting Crows, Vertical Horizon, or just great music live or in the studio, pick this one up! Also be on the lookout for their new album Shine it should definitely be worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Accoustical harmony, in a great live setting, October 6, 1999
This review is from: General Admission (Audio CD)
The Pat McGee Band is a true hidden gem. This live album captures the unique harmony of the band, while showcasing Pat's master accoustic guitar talents, great percussions, and strong lyrics. Wide range of emotions and styles are displayed on this album, from heart-felt ballads to fast-driving rock and roll. If you've never been to a PMB concert, this CD will recreate the phenomenal experience for you. Great album by a great band that we'll be hearing much more from in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Ready to hear PMB everywhere!, April 2, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: General Admission (Audio CD)
This album is a great sampling of what PMB can do. I've been lucky enough to see Pat's evolution all the way from high school, and I can tell you that the PMB sound has really matured. The vocals are great, the sound is clear. Look for PMB to repeat their great performance on Craig Kilborn soon in other venues. If you have a chance to see them live, you won't be disappointed.

If you have heard them on the radio, or even seen them live, skip the new release "Shine". Its overproduced and way too sterile for these guys. "GA" on the other hand, is fabulous. This band is amazing, wonderful, original, and talented. This CD really shows this and gives you a sense of what the true potential of this band is. A must for Pat McGee fans and future ones as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars This could be HUGE!!!!, August 4, 1999

This album, the only Pat McGee Band album that I have heard to date, defies explanation. All I can say is that this music makes you appreciate life a little more. In a word, it makes you content. If this is "adult comtempoary" then I like where adult contemporary is going! Yuck, I can't even believe I typed the words adult contemporary! I normally listen to Widespread Panic, Phish, & The Allman Bros. This is just good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Watch Out For These Guys!, August 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: General Admission (Audio CD)
The Pat Mcgee Band is one of the best bands around today. Their acoustic rock combined with piano and two percussionists offer satisfaction to all types of listeners. Catch them as much as possible while they're still small because once the word spreads, we'll be looking at another Dave Matthews Band type success story. This album was recorded live at two venues in the Washington DC/Baltimore area, one of which, The Bayou, is now closed for good. If you really want a good taste of the band, this album's for you.
