5.0 out of 5 stars With General Chennault and His Flying Tigers, June 16, 2009
This review is from: With General Chennault: The Story of the Flying Tigers in World War II (Hardcover)
As a young child with an interest in warfare, I found a copy of the story of Chennault's flying Tigers and the operations they flew against the Japanese in support of British and Chinese troops. It was a first edition, written in 1947, a year before I was born. At age 10, I found the book and was facinated by the accounts of aerial combat and the hardships they endured. The book was lost and I ran periodic searches to see if I could find another copy. When I got my new copy, it was like seeing an old friend who had been away. What struck me was turninh to the photos eclosed and remembering then exactly as before after 50 years!

If you are a student of World War II history in all theatres of operations, this goes into the political and military aspects of volunteers flying for a foreign country. I served with the US Army's Special Forces (Green Berets) during the Vietnam war in some of the areas the Flying Tigers fought over. I found it to be a well-written, very interesting story that can be difficult to put down. I re-read my new book cover-to-cover the day it was received and will be read again many time. It has been and always will be one of my favorite books.
