I recently ordered and received an extendable Tai Chi sword. First, I want to establish that I received the item in excellent contitions. In addition I received it in less that the expected time. About the sword, it is a practice one in which the weight is less than the standard competition sword but it serves it purpose. If you need a sword to practice the sequence and routine of any Tai Chi sword form, it may help you to do it. In addition you can take it anywhere you go, so your practice can be perform in any acceptable setting. Indeed I recommend the sword!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, April 10, 2010

This sword is amazing. That other guy is a moron, if the sword gets stuck there are about 8 simple screws on the handle to take off. just note 2 are shorter than the rest they have to go in the exact spot you got them. but once the handle is off the entire sword comes out and each piece can be easily slipped in and out.
I was expecting a bit more from the carry case, but its not bad. overall a very good sword for $10

I purchased this extendable sword to keep up my Tai Chi practice during a 2 month roadtrip. I was skeptical of how well it would work because of the low price, but a fellow Tai Chi student recommended it. And it worked extremely well. The feel is very close to normal practice swords, with a very nice balance and solid feel. The extension mechanics work well, and you hardly notice that it is a travel model. The rounded point and edges is helpful for practicing in confined areas. The travel case is convenient although the velcro fastener tore off quickly. I really am happy with it and plan to keep using it in the future. Overall, it is well worth the price and I highly recommend it.

Well the person that sold me the swords and not sure that he was aware of all the faults that comes with this.
Though I did complain to him and he did replaced it very fast and soon.
I know that this is not a very expensive items, but never the less it happens.
Did give him a good rating based on the replacement.
Now most of them that I got were also problematic.
Told by the other people that I bought swords for about the problems.
They indeed had the same .Very surprised.
No no sense in complaing you get what you paid for.
Knowing this was inexpensive as we did not bother making a big complain or the person who sold this to me.
The swords falls apart Section at a time.
So we will leave it at that.
Thank you.Fredo

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome, September 19, 2011
This review is from: Extendable Tai Chi Sword
I bought one of these at a convention many years ago, it still works great.
the sword has a nice weight to it, of course most of it is in the handle.

-I shouldnt have to say,
its not for sparring. keep to practicing form.

Great for when your traveling
or maybe want to prank a friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better, September 15, 2011

I'm very happy with the second item, it's much better than the first. There were no dents, the case wasn't partially opened, and the blade didn't wobble. If this is how they're supposed to arrive, I may just buy another.

I have had this sword for about a year and it still extends without a problem. It seems to stick once in awhile when collapsing, but it's no problem to push it in. It's great for carrying to odd places and the price is really right. The one problem is its lightness. It's as if I have a paper sword in my hand, so it never quite feels right as I do the form. Of course, if you are packing it somewhere, maybe that light weight is better for you. It's also a little shorter than I'd like.

Bottom line: I'd buy it again in a minute.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, For The Price, August 13, 2011

This review is from: Extendable Tai Chi Sword
This is a great sword for performing Tai Chi sword sequences because the extendable blade telescopes right down into the hilt, and the whole thing goes into a neat little bag that comes with it. You can throw this in your gym bag & have it hardly take up any room, as opposed to a fixed Tai Chi sword that usually has to be carried in a case, or long bag.

For $13, I have NO complaints. I was hoping it wasn't going to be a total piece of junk & it turns out it's not. Granted, if you whack it against something hard enough you're going to bend the blade, but that is not what this is meant for. It's for show, and it shouldn't be hit against anything at all. I have another Tai Chi practice sword that has a stiff fixed blade, that was 4x the cost of the telescoping sword, and yet I prefer using the telescoping sword more. It's light & showy, and when I'm done it folds neatly away.

The telescoping blade never gets stuck, open or closed. All you have to do is put the tip of the sword on the floor & gently tap the pommel (end of the hilt) with your hand and all the segments will collapse into each other. If you're gentle with it, this show sword will not fail you. For $13 (and it got here within 2-3 days of placing the order!) there's nothing to complain about. Just keep in mind, it's not meant for dueling or horseplay; it's specifically for practicing sword kata sequences.

I bought two swords for my daughter and myself for tai chi sword practice. Sword looks good for the price. Only problem was the tassel easily frayed. Easy to carry around since it's collapsible.
