4.0 out of 5 stars Meets my expectations
I picked this phone up at an Office Depot brand new and marked down to $18+tax. I figured not much to lose. My wife and I decided not to get land lines when we moved last spring so we only use this to sync with our two cell phones.
Although I have no other experience with Bluetooth enabled cordless phones. I have been very happy with the call/sound quality and the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Rich in features but has some issues and initial battary charging problem, August 8, 2009
This review is from: General Electric 28127FE2 Cell Fusion Cordless Phone with Call Waiting and Caller ID (Electronics)

The good:
Good voice quality. Supports both landline and up to 2 cell phones. Automatically connects to cell phone by bluetooth. Can call and receive calls from any line, cell or landline from any handset. Can place call on hold and answer another line. Can connect two lines to a conference call. Each handset can place calls simultaneously. Speaker phone. Push to talk across handsets. Monitor room in case you have a baby. Can transfer phone book to other handsets.
No more, missing cellphone calls because phone was left in some room or a bag.

The bad:
I had to return for replacement the first set because the introductions are lacking. The instruction said to charge phone for 16 hours before use and that is what I did. Yet the phone started flashing until the battery went dead and the phone won't charge anymore.
After some research on the internet. I realized that the following needs to be done or else the phone won't charge:
1. Plug-in the base unit. Handsets start flashing if you don't do so.
2. Start charging the handsets.
3. As soon as the handset asks for the date. Fill in all the date and time information or else the handset won't charge.
4. Leave it to charge 16 hours.

Other than take, GE made the 3 line support (2 cell phones and 1 landline) not easy to use. When the phone rings, I want to press one button to answer and not need to press another button if the call comes from a cell phone. I got used to it but it is still annoying.

Can not use cell phone it self for calls when it is connected via the bluetooth. Yet, this is more a phone problem rather than GE's fault.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Doesn't Overcome The Bad, May 10, 2009

I used this for six months before giving up on it. The good: It does what it's meant to, combining your land line and cell phone into one system. It's easy to set up your cell phone, and the batteries last a reasonable long time.
The bad: voice quality is degraded, and it introduces a built-in delay. Making and receiving calls was made so complicated that my wife never did figure it out. Phone book is complicated to use, and one-key access to voice mail is not possible. I can not recommend this unit.

Although I have no other experience with Bluetooth enabled cordless phones. I have been very happy with the call/sound quality and the performance and range of the two handsets. I have had none of the issues described by the others here. I would have given it a 5 star if the automatic connection didn't interrupt an active call sending me dashing to find one of the handsets.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great phones, March 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: General Electric 28127FE2 Cell Fusion Cordless Phone with Call Waiting and Caller ID (Electronics)
This is the best set of cordless phones that I have ever purchased. Not only are they convenient to link to your cell phone via the bluetooth option, but the other features are extremely easy to use. You can buy extra units to link them to your existing units, intercom to other rooms, monitor other rooms, use a 3.5mm headset jack, etc.
There are only two issues with the phones that I don't like. The first is that the battery life does not last long. The second is that about 10% of the time, the data from the caller ID does not pick up and displays "No Data". However, the price and the capability of linking my cell phone to the phone overrides the downfalls. Great phone!

1.0 out of 5 stars This phone has serious defects., April 10, 2009
This review is from: General Electric 28127FE2 Cell Fusion Cordless Phone with Call Waiting and Caller ID (Electronics)
I have returned/mailed back 3 of these and they still do not funtion. GE has web documented battery problems with the Cell fusion phones.I received may last set 04/08/2009 and I plugged them in to charge as required for 16 hrs, they went maybe 12 and the batteries keep failing to charge now, same problem as before.

I gave it one star because I had to.

Do not buy these GE-Thomson phones.

I was looking for something to replace my land line phone and this is it, you can set it to automatically connect to the base when you get home and in case there is an emergency I don't have to drag myself to the kitchen to get my cell.

The phone works really well. It's amazing that you can make and receive cell phone calls on your home phone. It also has many other cool features like alarm clock and room monitoring too.

Sorry, but this product is as bad as everyone said it is! It doesn't charge right and when it goes dead it is almost impossible to get it charged again. The bluetooth connects randomly whenever it wants to. Just really an annoying paperweight!

1.0 out of 5 stars not worth the price, September 25, 2010
This review is from: General Electric 28127FE2 Cell Fusion Cordless Phone with Call Waiting and Caller ID (Electronics)
we bought this to update from a 20 dollar cordless phone from walmart, quality was way worse with these phones. it never paired or stayed paired to our cell phones. support is crap. they took over 3 months to send us a replacement and when we had problems with the second they refused to send a replacement because we were going to be moving so our address would be changing. its mediocre as a phone with two handsets but not worth all the money we paid for all the extras.
also one of our handsets now is not working. after less than a year of use. beyond a pain in the rear.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stay away from this phone, August 18, 2009

This review is from: General Electric 28127FE2 Cell Fusion Cordless Phone with Call Waiting and Caller ID (Electronics)
I'm pretty familiar with multi-handset phone systems. I started with an original Siemens 2.4 Gigaset, then reluctantly moved "up" to a Uniden 5.8GHz to correct interference with my WiFi, then got fed up with the poor range & voice quality and went to this GE Thomson phone. If I could only go back to my old reliable Siemens.

The only good thing I can say is that it has a nice push-to-talk intercom and allows you to name handsets. I'll miss that when I move to another phone ... something I will be doing this week.

This phone system has been problematic from the start... the problems:

1. The ringers are horrible - very circa 1990.

2. Caller ID is very unreliable - more than 30% of the calls that come in are "No Data" - I have a talking caller ID box that I put on the line and it is speaking the phone number while the GE phone shows "no data".

3. Resets - about half of the time the handset rings, just as I'm trying to answer the phone, it goes into "INITIALIZING" mode and as a previous reviewer noted, I can't answer the phone before it goes to voicemail. Randomly handsets will reset - which makes them light up. Very disturbing in the middle of the night when it happens 3 or 4 times.

4. VMWI is flaky - the voice mail indicator is very flaky with my phone provider RCN. I've gone through two digital adapters and the VMWI either comes on and stays on, or never comes on. Another phone on the line displayed VMWI correctly each time.

I'm not even going to try to sell this on ebay - it's going to the parts bin and I'm getting a VTECH.
