4.0 out of 5 stars WHEN WILL THEY EVER BE PERFECT
Not perfect - just like all the rest, also this one makes that noise as if the lid should be pushed down by hand (are you with me?). But these guys are hard to come by. All the walk in stores don't carry them anymore (from what I know). So in closing, no better or worse than what you've had before; which isn't saying much, right?

1.0 out of 5 stars One Way VCR Rewinder
I am upset and angry at this unsatisfactory product, which failed after rewinding about half a dozen tapes over a period of a few months - very little usage, in other words. For the first five or six uses over a couple of months, it worked fine. It rewound the VCR tapes, stopped automatically and then popped open, as it should. On the last occasion, I left the room,...

1.0 out of 5 stars One Way VCR Rewinder, February 6, 2010

I am upset and angry at this unsatisfactory product, which failed after rewinding about half a dozen tapes over a period of a few months - very little usage, in other words. For the first five or six uses over a couple of months, it worked fine. It rewound the VCR tapes, stopped automatically and then popped open, as it should. On the last occasion, I left the room, wrongly assuming it would work properly again. Instead, when it reached the end of the tape, it failed to stop automatically. It kept turning at high speed until it stripped its gears with a terrible racket. It took me about 20 sec. to run in to see what happened and by then it was too late. It no longer worked. The VCR tape was destroyed as well. Nice. Save your money and find another brand; other rewinders are available.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tape Rewinder Value, March 15, 2010
This review is from: General Electric Slimline 1-Way VHS Rewinder, #85201 (Electronics)
Previous rewinders that I have had were of better quality. I don't expect satisfactory life out of this unit. Its performance is barely adequate. I've had to manually hold it closed while it rewound the tape, on at least a couple of occasions. It appears it's end of tape detection (presumably done by sensing tension (load) increase is too sensitive. Finally, previous rewinders that I have had were able to rewind my tapes faster than this one does.

I suspect the attempts at value engineering went to far and cheapened the quality to degrade the quality, performance and lifetime to the point where it is disappointing

This product did not work the minute I got it from the box. My husband troubleshoot it and found out that one of the wiring inside is disconnected because it was not soldered properly. Store offered us a replacement one instead of us having to return it. I commended the store for it's honesty.

Bought 2 of these and after a month, neither of them work! The connection plug has come out and the other just quit rewinding--save your money!

Does anyone have any idea why this is priced at $ 170.00, new, or $ 120.00 used ? This is just crazy. You can buy one, just as good, for $ 25.00. Who would fall for it ? I'm open to suggestions.

Just better than junk. We are lucky that VHS tape is gone. I guess when this one breaks, we going to have to use two pencils to rewind the tapes.

The solidness of the rewinder is good. Also like the quietness when it rewinds.
